The QB Thread

I don't know about this guy.

Will Grier*, QB, West Virginia
Height: 6-2. Weight: 221.
Projected 40 Time: 4.80.
Projected Round (2019): 2-4.

11/8/18: In 2018, Grier has completed 70 percent of his passes for 2,618 yards with 28 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Multiple team sources who have seen Grier in person say he has just average arm strength and when he can't set his feet, he has a hard time driving the ball.

8/28/18: According to NFL teams' preseason data provided by team sources, Grier checks in at 6-foot-2, 221 pounds. He has 30.88-inch arms, 9.48-inch hands, and a wingspan of 74.5 inches. He is said to run the 40 in 4.80 seconds.

Grier played well overall for West Virginia in 2017. He has a quality arm and can throw the ball with accuracy, but needs to improve his field vision and decision-making for the NFL. Grier was only in his first full season as a starter in 2017, so he was wise return to West Virginia for 2018 to improve before going pro. For 2017, Grier completed 64 percent of his passes for 3,490 yards with 34 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also had to have surgery after a finger injury sustained versus Texas. That caused him to miss the final two games of the year, against Oklahoma and Utah.

In 2015 while playing for Florida, Grier completed 66 percent of his passes for 1,204 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. He was impressive for the Gators before testing positive for steroids. That led to him transferring to West Virginia. Sources say that Grier and his family can be high-maintenance personalities who some teams are going to shy away from.

Next year the Raiders might be picking lower in the draft. Not in the top 3. So to move up for a QB we like, (IF in fact he exists) will cost a lot of picks we need.

The only other alternative is to sign a veteran free agent qb for next season. I don't want to see Carr again. Waste of time, money and possible draft picks.

what makes you think this is a squad that will win games next year? I see another year f suck no matter who we draft.

It was a banned substance that he tested positive for. A legal PID that was bought over the counter. Should of known better regardless. Many legal PID's are banned for college athletes.

I don't know. No one can answer that.
we'll be in the mix for a top ten pick and we'll have the draft capital to move up if we need to. There will be a bigger and better pool of QBs to choose from as well.

Agree. I can’t fathom how we won’t be picking in the top 3 again in 2020. We can’t fix the entire roster in one offseason. Whether people want to admit it or not, Cleveland’s roster is light years ahead of where we are, and they still can’t win consistently. You can’t use the logic that the guy you really want next year might not be available, so we’ll force a bad fit with someone else this year. 2020 QB class looks much more promising than this year. Fix the putrid defense!!

It's a guarantee that we will be picking in the top 3 again next year. I have ZERO faith that this coaching staff has a clue about anything. I have ZERO faith that we will draft impact players next year.

Wow. What are the odds of getting another terrible coaching staff? Del Rio and company was another terrible coaching staff.

We never seem to have a good coaching staff.

Wait a minute.

Could it be the players that suck?:wtf1:

It goes both ways.

I think Del Rio had trouble identifying what he wanted his team to look like and putting the pieces together. Was that Red's fault? Maybe... Maybe it was Jack's Fault...

What I do know is together they didn't put together a high quality team that consistently performed. I blame the defense on Jack quite a bit though. He's a DC that should have atleast been able to make us competitive and he never made it happen in the slightest. Even teams that had less talent, and there were teams less talented figured out how to get the most out of their players.

If the QB does that stupid clap, I don't want them.

Herbert claps
Tua claps
Grier claps

Hell they all clap...

Except the kid at Clemson, I'm sure he does too, I just haven't noticed it.

He does hahahah!

I did notice it. It is something I look for on occasion same as the ball slap before throwing. Where they hold it before pulling the trigger.

I’m pretty sure Jones doesn’t...coaching plays a part.

He does too.. just not as prevalent as some of the others.

Yeah I just watched his newest stuff on youtube. Its there. (There are some new clips posted this week)

He runs an efficient game. I like that he looks pro ready. He's growing on me but @gst8 will be pissed.

I don't like him enough to take him round one yet. But he's so clean in every movement you can tell the guy has been coached up for good or bad.

Would still put you above the Reggie Line

The GM equivalent to the Mendoza Line

Then again maybe the new Mendoza Line for GM's should be a higher standard Red.

Not really a fair fight though when I have the benefit of the exclusive @007 draft guide.
