The upside is that it makes trading for Carr look more appealing for a QB needy team.

I honestly don't want either of those two. Bridgwater strikes me as a guy that should be on a team with a strong defense. We ain't gotz that.

And a srong running game. The things Derek needs to be successful as well... Fitz has shown he can sling it and carry a team, but we don’t have nearly the kind of weapons Tampa has either.

Can't disagree. Like I said, at this point with how shitty the QB class is I think Gruden just focuses on continuing to build Carr up and using our 4 top 40 picks plus the FA cash to bolster the rest of the roster.

We could have a strong defense in very short order though. The FA safety market is terrific, check. The draft is deep in DL and LBer talent, check and check. We could really do a complete makeover in one offseason.

Not worth it IMO, he'll get Carr type money, or close enough. Then he will be under contract that will probably have a larger cap hit if we moved on from him in the event of us drafting his replacement.

Just don't see the point in going after a guy who I feel needs a good defense to cover for him, while we have yet to field even a poor defense over the past 15 years. We can all think our draft will fix it, but let's face it. No matter what it will take a year or two for them to gel, even if we get the right guys.

You give a 2 year deal at close to Carr money. He's never had a pay day before and may never have the opportunity for one like that again. He gets one year to show whether or not he's a player... another to play the well paid backup/mentor role if he isn't and we have to draft a guy. We have to draft defense this year regardless so there's really no downside unless you think Carr might turn it around.

Aside trying to compete against Jax, NY, and any other team that will be looking for a QB. He's gonna get paid, and I bet it's a solid deal for 4+ years. He's the one in a position of power, he can go after the team that will put him in the best position to win, and further increase his value. I'd really rather just stick with Carr in that scenario.

Fitz okay I get it, the other dude from NY why not, they are at the end of their careers and two year blah blah dollars and they are gone. Bridgwater can get better than that.

Fair enough, although I think a short deal with a lot of guaranteed money would probably be preferable in his eyes. His stock is going from underrated to overrated real quickly if we're talking about him getting Cousins' type money or something. If that happens then yeah, hard pass.

I think he'll do better than Bradford or Keenum and his contract will lock him into being the guy for atleast 3 years.

Saints traded a pick to get TB. I don't think they are just going to let him walk away after that if they have him earmarked to succeed Brees when he steps down.

They don't have the cap space to compete.

Rypien > Finley
There a reason Finley is at NC...
