Disagree. 4 reasons.

First, I don’t want a fat, aging, entitled midget who took 45 sacks (8.5% sack rate) last year starting. I do want O’Connell (6.5% sack rate) as our back-up.

Second, the TD numbers you posted were attained under Payton, who some consider a HOF coach who spent all offseason working to improve Wilson. Getsy is no Payton. Wilson will ignore him, become fat and entitled again with an entourage in Vegas. No thanks.

Third, under Hackett, Wilson had 16 TD & 11 Pics in 15 games. Under AP, as a rookie playing for an interim OC, O’Connell played better—having 11 TD & 5 Pics in 9 games. I’ll take better as my back-up.

Fourth, there is every reason to think O’Connell will continue to improve and play better in his second year until beaten out by our drafted rookie. In contrast, there is every reason to think the midget will play worse next year and retire after that.

Draft a rookie to start. Don’t waste snaps on fat, aging, entitled midgets.
