2024 Free agency...

I see we are trading Adams and signing Russ.

What does this have to do with me laughing at your AO'C comment?
That he’s expected to be better Y2 under a new OC? Giving us a better back-up QB once we hand over the reigns to a drafted 1st round rookie?

Wilson has always taken sacks. He’s probably either the leader or close every year in that category. Somebody look it up. Hag fan always complained about the Midget taking sacks.

Wilson takes sacks looking for the big plays.

O'Connell takes sacks because he has the mobility of the Colossus of Rhodes.

Last year, Wilson did rank #1 in sack percentage (8.5%) among veteran QB with 300+ attempts. He ranked #5 overall when stalwart QB on rookie contracts were included on the list. Lol
  1. Z. Wilson,NYJ (10.4%)
  2. B. Young (R), Car (10.0%)
  3. J. Fields, Chi (9.4%)
  4. S. Howell, WA (9.1%)
  5. R. Wilson, Den (8.5%)
After Wilson was D. Ritter, Atl (7.0%), another starting QB on a rookie deal. Wilson’s shit ranking was under HOF HC Payton, not the just-fired Getsy. Lol

#FakeNews

Wilson stunk just two years ago—16 TDs, 11 pics, 15 games. O’Connell even under Bo as a rookie played better—11 TDs, 5 pics, 9 games.

Big plays you say, show me. Under HOF guro Payton, Wilson ranked #42 in yards per attempt among QB with 300 attempts. As a rookie under Bo, O’Connell ranked #44. Big whoop!

Wilson’s washed. I don’t want him and his entourage anywhere near Vegas and Getsy. lol

Wilson would be a bad signing. Dude is washed and he's an entitled asshole. So is Payton who did him no favors this past season. We're in no man's land at the QB position. Drafting too low for the top guys and I don't think Penix, Nix, or McCarthy are worth it at 13.

@Sleet I think your concerns about Russ have some validity, but I don't think he was the one and only reason the 2022 Broncos were historically bad on offense. The OL was and remains piss poor, they line up receivers that no one is afraid of, and Hackett lost the locker room early on sucked as a play caller. They lost Javonte early on as well.

As Raiders fans let's not ignore that we've successfully reclaimed guys like Plunkett and Gannon, and nevermind that Russ was an annual MVP candidate not that long ago. Do I think he's the long term answer, no. Is he better than AO'C, an emphatic yes. I can't stand a guy who just stands there when no one is open and just throws it away. Tuck the ball and pick up some positive yards damnitt.

Plus the donkeys will be paying most of his salary, so at a vet minimum I think he makes sense.

Third, under Hackett, Wilson had 16 TD & 11 Pics in 15 games. Under AP, as a rookie playing for an interim OC, O’Connell played better—having 11 TD & 5 Pics in 9 games. I’ll take better as my back-up.

Fourth, there is every reason to think O’Connell will continue to improve and play better in his second year until beaten out by our drafted rookie. In contrast, there is every reason to think the midget will play worse next year and retire after that.
I do feel there is every reason to believe that AO'C will improve. You kind of have nowhere to go but up from last year. Be it from more experience, a full off season to work as a 1 or 2 under the same OC that will call plays for him. His floor is where it is now and it should only go up from that spot. How high that ceiling goes! Well I am not convinced it goes too much higher beyond the he can start and win a game or two when the run game is going well. Crazier shirt has happened in the NFL so who knows..

The idea of a Nathaniel Hackett guy coaching Russell Wilson in Vegas does absolutely fucking nothing for me. Is Wilson better than AO'C at this point yes, yes he is. However depending on who we draft, I don’t see a QB in this draft aside from Caleb who would stand to benefit from watching a Wilson play while learning the position. He just plays so much different than anyone else not named Wilson they are very similar.

Plus Wilson is just a fucking goofball. Nobody wants that clown in or around our locker room.

Sacks don’t matter just ask Joe Burrow.

Wilson would run counter to the culture that Raiders are building. Apparently, he's stand offish to his teammates. As long as you win, it's fine but with a young team, no prima donnas please.

Yes, Raiders are in draft purgatory, as I predicted they would be after last year's draft. Not good for trying to select an elite QB.

It’s really hard to compare how many times one QB is sacked vs another QB on another fucking team and say hey “this is why I don’t want this guy”

One guy had extra protections on the vast majority of his drop backs the other has his base OL and maybe a chip from a RB or TE here and there. Is that the case for Wilson in Denver ? Fuck if I know I only watched them 2x this year.

Take Tom Brady for instance.. 3 of his 8 lowest years being sacked came in Tampa. Did he somehow get better? Did he just happen to have an insane OL that he’d never had before? No, the system worked to protect him even though Bruce Ariens was known to put QB’s in a position to hold the ball longer.

It’s not always about the times you were sacked it’s more about what were you doing that got you sacked.

Russell Wilson extending a play on 3rd and long when nothing is open trying to make something happen down field and getting sacked . Well that’s just no different than a checking down for a 2 yard gain in that scenario trying to avoid the sack. The only difference one did everything he could to make that play and the other gave up at 2 seconds when he didn’t see anything. I’d rather have the guy that got sacked unless I had a stud of an immobile QB.

According to APs article today, Wilson is a no sale. Plus Getsy looks fatter than the midget in pictures so no being walked over.

Oddly enough, statistics show that mobile quarterbacks don’t get sacked less often than traditional pocket passers. However, athletic quarterbacks are undoubtedly harder to sack than pocket quarterbacks. Mobile quarterbacks take a lot more energy and effort from defensive players to track down before they get sacked.

Wilson, Fields, Jackson, and Hurts were all in the top 3rd of QBs sacked this season.

I think mobility is more of an offensive weapon than a sack prevention skillset. When I think of physical skillsets that make a QB hard to sack, it's more size/strength IMO.

Big Ben was always hard as shit to sack, but he also got sacked more than just about anybody. It was his willingness to just stand in there and take the hit. He at one time was a nimble fucker for being as big as he was..

Yeah, nimbleness of foot certainly doesn't hurt... I'm actually picturing Mahomes. It's maddening how many defenders actually get a hand on him only for him to shrug it off.
