Lawrence was a premier pass rusher THIS year. Zach Martin has been arguably the best guard in the league since he was drafted

I expect both to be retained. That said I see dlaw having a bigger chance to escape.

I agree. I think they will figure it out. But Martin already turned down a contract last year. He is looking to get left tackle money. If they both don't sign, they could very well lose one
 
Although not a free agent yet, Muhamed Wilkerson is rumored to be cut. He would look good on a D-Line with Mack

So Cowboys can't afford D Lawrence if they sign Z Martin, but we can afford him while signing K Mack (and just dropping $25mil per on Carr) ???

Yes! Cowboys cap is worse than ours and don’t have the players to cut like we do

I don't think anyone would dispute that we could afford him. I'm anticipating around 35-40 mil in cap space for us after a few cuts and the cap figure gets sorted out. That's even after we resign Mack.

Now as to the idea of Dallas choosing Martin over Lawrence.... Their are only a few positions teams spend draft pick after draft pick trying to find "The guy" Edge Rusher happens to be one. Once you think you have one, you never let them go, unless you have to, or they have other issues you know about. (*Patriots do not apply they are nuts)

Either way, it's a whole lot easier finding a competent guard than it is finding an elite pass rusher. You have to resign one of the hardest positions to fill.

Ha. Thank you for that. I stand corrected .You are right and I did know that. He isn't a free agent however he is in the same situation as Mack. He is going to get an extension. And the cowboys don't have alot of cap flexibility. I did forget and got the two mixed up. They will definitely tag Lawrence and figure it out. See the difference between me and some I have NO PROBLEM admitting when I'm wrong.

Well Zach won't be a free agent but they have to redo his contract like Mack however in normal cases I agree with u on de vs a guard. But Zach was a first round pick and the best guard in the league. If they had to choose I think they would choose Martin in this case
