The 2018 Free Agency Thread

There a couple of grown man sized MLBs there with decent but not amazing grades that should be reasonably priced.

Ill kick the shit out of this dead horse again. Aldon Smith would fit perfectly in this defense balling off the edge and from the DT spot at times. Would be one of the low key best moves we could make. He is a natural pass rusher. Will jump back in the league and get 8 sacks easy when/if cleared.

Imagine Mack with Irvin/Smith finally. MEJ inside with D.Payne/Vita etc. Bowman at ILB.

The shit could still work man! Keep the band together bruh!!!

if he still has half as much left as your boy Lynch he's still worth talking about

Seemed like Gordon came back just fine after suspension.

It would be nice to hear anything official from the NFL regarding this guy. Seems like cruel and unusual punishment at this point. Dude is still 28 or so? Has a good 4 years left to make some money.

Im sure the commish is busy doing absolutely nothing but pandering to his money sources.

Reminds me of the relationship between Gruden and Barrett Robbins. Gruden was the only coach that could control Robbins' manic episodes. Robbins went AWOL before the AFC Championship Game against the Ravens in 2000, just like he did before the Super Bowl in 2002. When Robbins went AWOL before the Ravens game, it was Gruden who went to Robbins' house and got him to snap out of it and show up for the game. It's not a coincidence that Robbins' best football was with Gruden as coach. (Robbins was totally out of control in 2002 after Gruden left, and the Super Bowl meltdown was the most public of his numerous hotel meltdowns that season). It's part of the reason Gruden brought Darrell Russell to Tampa in 2004 and is willing to at least talk to Lynch. Gruden knows he can handle these personalities (as long as these guys can show they really want to play football).

If Aldon could be reinstated, there's no question Gruden would give him a run.... The problem is Aldon is really done, he's not coming back. The NFL won't touch him (getting reinstated in 2018 is not even comparable to what it took when Darrell Russell got reinstated in 2004). Even though I haven't seen Aldon myself, there's a couple people I trust who have seen him and they have unequivocally said he's physically shot. He's been out too long and without any kind of structure, he's let his body go.

That sucks. Hopefully his story takes a turn for the better but the clock is def not on his side anymore.

He could have been the perfect bookend to Mack. We still dont have one (Altho Irvin is a nice piece in his own right)

Gonna have to find that piece somehow.

I can't see Demarcus Lawrence escaping cowboy country - but he'd be a VERY solid get.

I've said my peace about Richardson/Poe - Logan and Lotulele would be solid gets too.

I want Bowman back and he seems like he'd be a "gruden guy".

there are a number of LBs on that list who are better "gruden/guenther" fits then guys we currently roster. But also who cost coin that we need for mack.

same with safeties - if we don't expect Obi to be ready and/or want to push KuJo a bit - a number of those guys would improve our D

Butler/Johnson are the "stars" of that CB group - but there are about 12 guys who would replace Smith/Carrie and push Amerson/Conley to start.

Same with WRs and Crab - I think Watkins luster has worn off a bit- his Buff runningmate Woods showed more in LA. If we can snag one of the top 5-6 guys to replace crab - we good

I'm a big fan of Tyler Eiferts game. If he can stay healthy hes a top 5 TE. I'd ditch Cook in a heartbeat for Eif.

I would take Lawrence as my first choice also. Quality be over quantity this year. We need impact. There is a slim chance he may get away. They have to sign Zach Martin. He wants to dollar. If they can't come to an agreement he would get the tag over Lawrence. Then he may be available. Mack and Lawrence on the edge would be a nightmare

So you're seeing McKenzie giving that guy $16MM?

Maybe on a one year prove it deal? :rotf:
He gave big money to Smith! With Gruden in the fold? Yes! If u think Gruden won't have the larger say then I have a bridge to sell u in Brooklyn

Aldon Smiths been suspended for 2 years.. dude lost about $15 million dollars in those 2 years.. how much more ya gotta punish the dude?.. fuck man... dudes paid a hefty fine...he's paid his dues.. let the fucker back in ya fuckas'

Too late now.

He's D-O-N=E.

No team lets a guy who just got 15 sacks just walk away

Malcolm Butler, Morris Claiborne ,B. Breeland should get a look...

Red special for Donte Moncrief? Good size and speed, production when healthy...which is not enough....

McKenzie thinking the grass in Oakland keeps him healthy?

Of course they wouldn’t wwant him to walk away. Again it depends on Zach Martin. If they have to choose who to franchise Martin would get the tag over Lawrence. If that happens tell me what could the cowboys do?

I think that ship has sailed bro. Can't bank on the suit letting him out anytime soon. We need to bring Bruce and Bowman back. Seems like every year, its one step forward two steps back. Can't have all this kind of turnover on the defense with players and coaches and expect any kind of success. Red needs to stop doling out these one year prove it deals.

I'm not sure any team would choose a guard over a premier pass rusher. Even if that guard is a stud in his own right.

Then you need to read other sites. If you think that Lawrence would get the franchise tag over Zach Martin then you are crazy. As good as that cowboys line is, Martin is probably the best one on that line. Both are valuable but if it came down to tagging either. There is absolutely no question Zach Martin would tagged
