Championship Sunday

So he's worth the $18MM extension? I suppose so if Carr was worth the $125MM after one super season.

#RubberYear
I wouldn't extend him that's for sure. Carr on the other hand had shown enough to not let go. IMO, Carr was playing better each year and atleast showed an upward trajectory. You'll never hear me gripe about us paying him, even if I didn't think he was a top 10 or just on the inside because the difference was minimal between 9-15...

Bortles hasn't shown much upside in his 4 years.

They already exercised the 5th year option on Bortles I think. Heard it was $18MM.

Carr was worth the risk based on his progression from year to year as you mentioned.

I hope it was the lousy coaching and schemes that caused Carr to regress so badly in 20127. We're about to find out!

Me too...

I remember fans complaining how 'safe' Gruden played it in the Snow Job Game.

It happens to all coaches. Afraid to lose. Afraid to win.

I always held that he should have bootlegged Gannon instead of handing the ball to Garner on that 3rd and short. Pats were waiting for it.

That hurt no doubt, but the same thing can be said about getting off the field on 3rd 18. Could have taken another 3 minutes or so off the clock.

Bortles played well enough to win the game with his defense. However they played it too safe. If you want to beat NE you have to be aggressive when you have a lead. The Eagles never took the foot off the gas and played to win. Play not to loose against NE and you will losse.

You aren't going to beat the Pats playing it safe. 3rd and 18 conversion was inexcusable. They should have just dropped every one back by the first down sticks and forced Brady to dump the ball short.

Not sure how much he could have opened it up in those weather and field conditions that night.

I agree with this, he should have used his legs a bit more. NE plays such fundamentally sound football though, their were not many chances to run.

A couple of those shotgun handoffs where he faked running around end, it looked like it was there.

Even if he gets 3-4 yards, it makes you account for him. That is what makes the zone read effective, it requires you to play 11 on 11

Agree. That read option stops working if the QB never runs the ball. I used to laugh every time the Raiders tried that with David because you know he was never going to run it.

totally!

I'd like to see Philly win it so my dad gets to witness a SB victory while he is still alive .
That's cool, that's how it was for me with the Red Sox and my father. Well that and I was a Sox fan too, but I'm more a fair weather baseball fan.

I like that play where Phila options the run with a slant route. Pederson is a good play designer.

That would be great for your dad's sake but that is one fucked up fan base in general. Them pelting the Vikes bus with bottles and debris was really unnecessary and looked scary. They do that after a blow out win, can't imagine what the scene would have been like if they lost.

I was over in the city before the game, because my daughter entered everyone in the house's email to win a studio meet and greet with Walk the Moon at the radio station... of course my son won, and I had to cart their asses out to the Main Line to see the dopey band.

My son didn't even want to go, then he was going to wear all his Trump shit... my daughter got pissed, so he wore a Slayer shirt LOL... Anyhow, we stopped at Jim's on 4th and South to get a cheesesteak on the way home, and there were a lot of Viking fans there, and noone was fucking with them. Those seats at the Linc are expensive, they drove all the 700 level idiots out from the old Vet. I am guessing most of those dudes throwing shit were drinking and watching the game in the parking lot.
