2024 Free agency...

Hey guys, one of my best friends has a brother in law who used to play with Russ and is in his inner circle, serves on his foundation board, etc... Says Russ expects to be released by Denver and Las Vegas is his desired destination.

If we can get him on the cheap I'd be OK with it, but I also want a young franchise QB to be identified and developed behind Russ.

Would not shock me one bit if that is the direction we go. I guess Getsy will reach out to Hackett and see what he was like to work with. Russ didn’t look good at all under him and Outten in Denver.

Maybe reach out to Tyrone Wheatley and see what he has to say about him.

Bringing in Russ would be disappointing and it’d be like putting a band aid to a bullet wound in this division and would have similar energy to signing Jimmy G last year. Mind you, Russ is not a bad QB… just an average one at this stage of his career. I don’t to keep going after average band aids, put your nuts on the table and go get your franchise QB.

I hear you... But the old schooler in me still prefers to not throw young qbs to the lions. For every Stroud there's 10 Youngs who struggle mightily and lose confidence. Green Bay seems to have it figured out, let's do that.

Russ = veteran placeholder
Daniels/Penix/Nix = the future
AO'C = decent backup, might flip him to recoup a little draft capital, he could bring back a 3rd or 4th me thinks.

If drafting Daniels/Nix/Penix was involved with signing Russ on a short term deal then I would be interested. But signing Russ and not drafting a QB until rounds 4+ would disappointing like last year.

Agree but that is probably just what the dumb Raiders will do. It’s like clockwork.
