I still think a quality tackle to play on the left or right side is needed

We're taking a massive risk if we don't get another tackle. Howard has injuries, Watson wakes up injured, and Penn is old, and about to be real old. Solid in the middle, and between Alexander, Feliz Navidad, and maybe Kirkland, we should be ok in the middle, but no depth at tackle, and we let McCants walk (which seemed real surprising).

Still don't get why Toomer was allowed to walk. Dude showed in pre-season and played well for SD. With or without Riley, team needs better LBs.

My boy Dexter was on the bench too

Yep

I didn't think Penn would last this entire season without getting injured. He surpassed all expectations in terms of his durability and most notably, his performance

Raiders have to invest in his eventual replacement or Carr's long term health is in jeopardy

I would not be surprised if Reggie goes LT in the early rounds of the draft

Im guessing we will see Karl Joseph at FS in the future possibly. So dont be shocked if we add a player who fits at SS too.

As @Crow mentioned. The idea S.Smith getting snaps at safety late in his contract is a good one. Might be too soon for that, but he is at least a useful coverage guy for DC with any brains. Stick him on a TE once in awhile and he might be more valuable. I think that has always been the silver lining in his long contract at this age. Can he translate? Seems smart and has size to spare. Neither of our DB's match up well with speedy guys either. CB needs addressing with every other position outside of edge rusher

Jefferson from Arizona would be a nice get. Reggie was sniffing around him last off season no?

I want a blow-the-top-off #2 WR (to play #3) to complement Cooper and Crabby, not a #3 WR who might struggle as a #2 if Crabby or Cooper get injured. In upgrading Seth, let's really upgrade.

Good luck finding someone who thinks they're a number 2 to accept a number 3 role. I have a feeling Garcon would be willing to do that.

Then draft that burner. We need speed so Carr (or Cook) can kill teams deep.

I don't see us being any sort of player in FA....Possibly cutting Damn Williams and signing a Kawaan Short, I would love to and can imagine that scenario....We gonna re sign a few guys.....And lean on the draft this go round.....LB, CB, OL/DL depth, WR.....Gonna go into next year after the draft with a top 5 roster....Probably top 3.....I thought we had a top 5 coming in this year....

I disagree, Red has made some huge moves the last couple of years that have really paid off, e.g. KO, Hudson. I see no reason he doesn't do that on the dline this year.

Granted Smith, Nelson haven't been worth the money, but I think Red really sees the value of going after young FAs now.

Smith and Nelson aren't exactly overpaid

He's had to spend in FA both because of the salary floor and also because we needed to start fielding an NFL product. I've no doubt his long term plan is to backfill all those FAs with drafted players. People talk about his drafting, which is ok, but I think his strength is salary management and he knows better than anyone that building a team through FA isn't sustainable long term.

probably true, but we still have too many holes to fill to think you can draft all of them. As more player are willing to come here FA should get better for us as well. Red also seems to like guys like KO/Hudson who are still young and can play 5-10 more seasons.

Just wait. After we beat Houston on Saturday, Cleveland will trade us all their 2017 draft picks for Cook.

As long as we find a descent Vet back up. I could be happy with their 1st 3rd rounder.

And no keeping McCloin doesn't count as a descent backup. Not many real options at this time from the looks of it though.

I'd take Barkley if he doesn't resign with the Bears. He actually looked competent in his starts.
