2020 Free Agent class + Legal Tampering

I know we are all beaten down by years of horrendous torture. BUT the Raiders have a shot to turn over a new leaf here. They have a brand new start in Vegas. Players will be excited to visit in FA and see the new stadium and facilities & LOW TAXES!. Gruden & Mayock are well respected around the league and can recruit players as well as the teams you mentioned. We have a nice amount of STABILITY for once. Granted our QB situation is a little up in the air moving forward. But the roster is young with plenty of draft picks and money to improve.

TLDR: Id see how things play out in Vegas. This isnt the old Oakland product anymore. The NFL is gonna be hype on Vegas.
Worked for the Ravens...

Miami just dumped all its players and pissed everyone off. Same w the Jaguars. Tampa Bay is solid attraction currently I suppose. But FA's may very well say fuck the other to spots after how they treated their players last year.

So that's two broke dick franchises... anyone else?
I’m not anybody’s accountant... but I’m confident in saying that Mark has the dough to do what he wants. For years, it was “Al is cash poor” .... while at the same time, it was “Al is handing out crazy money contracts.” How can it be both?

You're smarter than that.

Because our roster was top-heavy with over-paid, over-the-hill vets and the bottom of the roster was stocked with cheap warm bodies.

And Al wouldn’t spend dick on his coaching staff. For the most part he was the de facto GM and Coach

Meanwhile, “broke ass” Mark made Gru the highest paid coach, Derek the highest paid QB (for exactly 19 minutes), Trent Brown the highest paid tackle.... I’m just saying that this “Mark’s going to have to hope he finds all the change in his couch cushions if he wants to sign a linebacker” talk is ridiculous.

Maybe we can’t sign a guy because another team values him more. Maybe we can’t sign a guy because he doesn’t like our scheme. Maybe we can’t sign a guy because he got another offer from a team that just hired his college position coach. Maybe we can’t sign a guy because he thinks the other team that likes him has a better shot to go all the way. Maybe we can’t sign a guy because his wife hates the desert. I dunno... there’s lots of reasons why a guy might choose another team... but worrying that Mark’s check will bounce isn’t one of them.

And Joyner the highest paid piece of shit slot CB.

None of those guys have received a contract with significant guaranteed money. The guaranteed money has to go into an escrow account at contract signing.

Owners who have significant cash funds have no problem with these contracts (that are expected by the top players in the NFL). Owners who are cash poor are unable to come up with $60m upfront that will sit in escrow for a year or two. Mark falls in category #2.

This would change if the new CBA is accepted:

Owners offer $10 million funding-rule credit
Posted by Mike Florio on February 19, 2020, 5:19 PM EST

The NFL Players Association wants to get rid of the funding rule. The NFL doesn’t. And the league has offered a compromise.

Per a league source, the NFL is willing to give teams a $10 million credit against the requirement that future guarantees be placed in escrow.

So if a team were required to set aside, for example, $50 million to satisfy guaranteed payments to be made in 2021, only $40 million would have to actually be set aside.

It’s not much. The question becomes how high will the league go along these lines. In the end, for example, would the NFL bump the credit to $30 million or $40 million?

Ultimately, none of it matters. Teams can afford to set the money aside, as the Vikings showed when signing Kirk Cousins to a three-year deal with $84 million fully guaranteed. The real question is whether they want to tie up so much future money, and in turn tie their hands.

As to Cousins, for example, the full guarantee for 2020 dramatically complicates the Vikings’ ability to explore their options for a potential upgrade, as an unprecedented number of quarterbacks become available.

This has been gone over a million times. There is a difference in having the money to meet salary on a flow basis and having the cash reserves to fund a signing bonus. We don't have to infer anything here. Al Davis literally sold a piece of his team to come up with the cash to sign players. In 2019 the Raiders were once again the lowest revenue team and, unlike a lot of other owners, Mark doesn't have an alternate source of money. He's IRS rich, not disposable income rich relative to his peers. If Ross, Blank, Khan, the Glazers, etc. want to outspend us for a player they absolutely have the money to do it.

Dont know how long I can stand for this Mark Davis slander its disrespectful to Al Davis. Making fun of his son ? A person that loves the team as much as his father. So he has a strange hair cut, he drives a family van, and fly basic who gives a shit. He put us in the best position everytime john madden and ron wolf told mark to hire reggie. Mark stepped on reggie toes fired allen and hired jack del rio . Mark picked Derek carr ( Carr aint going no where) mark hired Gruden and Gru hired Mike who gave us one of the best drafts ever. Settle down and lets see what Gruden & mike has to offer us this go round
