OK so what is your plan RE: QB

Isnt the idea to upgrade? Or just save money and bitch about how Borkels is too slow to chase down all those pick 6's he'll throw?

What if I told ya there would be money for a premier edge talent?

The Raiders aren't going to Vegas and put some journeymen scrub like Bridgewater or Borkles back there... and I'm not confident in our ability to develop a draft pick quickly...

I'd watch what Carolina does with Cam Newton personally... he'd be the one vet that would put asses in the seats...
I can't do another pussy QB. Fuck no!

I get this idea and deep down I LOVE it.

I recommended it like a year ago haha.

BUT, I don't think we can embrace a Nathan Peterman full tank year one in Vegas. People would lose their shit hahaha.

I think we could get away with it if we had some hot QBOTF prospect waiting in the wings. Like I said yesterday, you’re either selling competitiveness or hope. With Peterman we’d spend the entire year here planning our draft class and what pieces we need to go with our young QB.

Yeah it could be I've completely ran out of patience with waiting any longer.

I remember we spoke about this once before and we didnt like the idea of pre-tanking a year in advance. No guarantee we don't accidentally win 6 games again and miss out on Lawrence and Fields.

No I meant take a guy now not next year. Fans will be fine with Peterman for half a season or so as long as there is a savior waiting in the wings.

I think you do the Gardner Minshew thing. But since this team doesn't have as much defensive talent as the Jags team, you have enough "hope" in the Day 3 rookie to fill the seats for 2020 and then Lawrence gets a whole new level of hope in 2021.

Right now Carr's stock is at a season low. With that said we have four winnable games left. Carr will likely play himself on or off this roster the last four weeks.

If he plays well I could see him being the guy again until we find someone more flashy. If he comes out and looks shitty vs teams like the Jaguars, Broncos, Titans and Chargers when we need a win, that may be enough to move on from him. I do think they would rather have a known asset in Carr going into Vegas. He'd be entering year three under Gruden with this OL/OC. Giving him a #1 WR and some better defense would be the logical move as opposed to trying to teach Winston, Mariota or someone else's busted QB Gruden offense. Gruden probably doesn't wanna reteach this offense to a stop gap. Only a rookie should be groomed IMO

Id love to see us make Carr groom his replacement. I laughed when I read "Camp Carr" - sounds like somewhere rich white kids go to play mediocre football for Christ.

Carr has 4 games left to fuck up his Vegas life or earn one more season while we frantically try to find a rookie QB with better upside.

Jordan Love... man... that dude probably needs to go on the Aaron Rodgers developmental plan.
That's why he's a part of my tank plan. He's not here to be QBOTF or to win games in 2020. He's the guy that gets you to Lawrence and yet tantalizing enough to make a couple plays and keep the fans coming. Better than 16 games if Peterman, right?

Shit, I actually forgot about Kizer (good call @Armyr8rfan). I could watch that guy for a year if that’s what it took. Let Gruden tinker with him instead of our incoming rookie.

You can trade down to 32 and take a flier on a QB without "blowing up your team"

I would worry waiting until round 4 is a waste of time. Maybe you get a Minshew one out of ten times. It still sends the message Carr is the guy (We took Connor Cook in round four and Carr didnt give a fuck)

The 32nd pick gets 5.4 million dollars total. Just trade down and take one there.

If he sucks so fuckin what. We dicked around for 6 years anyways already. Cheap backup.

One thing about taking Hurts there is you could use him as a gadget player as you develop him, and even if he doesn't develop you probably still have a useful player. Hurts doesn't have the same upside as Jackson but you could do similar things with him.

If Kizer is the man, I'm still assuming we get the #1 pick in 2021. And that's fine with me. Just don't spend a Day 1 or 2 pick on a QB.

Cam could give David some eyeliner as a parting gift

I’m not 100% convinced Gruden/Mayock will actually move on, yet. I’m 100% convinced they are seriously thinking about it though.

What’s shitty is we are not gonna have a shot at Burrow or say, Tua (I honestly don’t want to draft him anyways) without trading up. And that’s if the Bengals/Dolphins/whoever would even do it. And the price might be STEEP.

So that leaves, Hurts, Fromm, Eason, Love and Herbert.

I am not a current believer in Love and he likely stays put anyways as he is having a down year.

Eason has 1st round talent, but isn’t as experienced or as refined as you’d like. And he may not be a Gruden type of QB (not a playmaker with his feet).

Hurts is more of a one read, throw it if it’s there if not, tuck it and run type of QB right now. And he’s not exactly an elusive runner. He’s a bruiser. I’m not entirely sure he will even be a QB at the next level, and I’m definitely not sold on him as more than a 3rd rounder at this point (if that). I know a couple of you won’t like to hear that. But browse around scouting sites. That’s what they are all kinda saying.

Fromm is a good fit. Accurate. Goes through progressions. Experienced. Winner. But his arm talent isn’t top notch. I think he will go in the 1st, but he could easily fall to the 2nd.

Herbert has all of the tools. But seems inconsistent. And just doesn’t have that “it factor” for me.

Honestly I’m not sure I like any of them enough to draft them in the 1st and say “this is my franchise guy” except Burrow.

I’d see what it would take to get him.

Kizer ugh. I'd rather watch Peterman tbh.

I read a write up that comped him to Taysom Hill actually.

I read that same article. Some have him late first some have him basically not to be drafted as a QB. I'm not sure where the truth lies. I know I'd rather watch him play than Derek...

Yeah. Who knows what he would play like? Probably not good. He’s still young tho. Gruden held onto him. So that’s saying something I guess. I know Mayock liked him coming out.

Remember Nick Foles getting a huge contract. Look at him being benched for Minshew. A 6th rounder taking a 80 million dollar QB's job before he plays 5 games :yikes:

One in the hand fellas. Don't quit your job until you have a new one. Gruden is not going to purposely downgrade Carr. Right now you have a solid game manager who can play well for you. He will keep that in his pocket until its able to be upgraded. Why gamble on being 2-14 again year one in Vegas. Not going to happen unless Carr shits the bed these final weeks.

Gruden is going to fall for some 5th round pick ass QB to develop. Carr will play mediocre in Vegas and we will revisit this next year with a better roster. Sucks but that is what it is barring a trade for Tua IMO.

I was listening to some guys on the radio today talk about how you used to beat a running QB by hitting him on every single play but nowadays because of the rules and how savvy they are with the RPO timing defenses just can’t get away with it anymore so the expectation is that we’ll see more guys having Lamar Jackson type success.

Well. My fear is that he is JT Barrett. I mean. I know the anyone but Carr sentiment is stronger than its ever been here right now.

But if we are gonna do it, let’s do it right.
