OK so what is your plan RE: QB

No I meant take a guy now not next year. Fans will be fine with Peterman for half a season or so as long as there is a savior waiting in the wings.

Oh gotcha yup I'm in 100 percent.

I thought you meant tank for Lawrence etc.

That wont work because we could always get out tanked haha.

We have to develop a plan now that doesn’t include Carr. Fuck him.

Completely done with that cry baby. As an organization they can’t be wearing their feelings on their sleeves. If they move Carr and we end up 2-14 so be it. Can’t keep him and then end up winning 5-6 games again and still be in the same situation without a plan.

Somehow I smell The Idiot putting in his two cents. Hoping he just kills himself instead. .

The Raiders won't tank in Vegas. If they want the Clemson kid they will have to trade a bunch of 2020 pick for 2021 picks. We could actually pull that off with 5 top 100 picks but its probably a pipe dream.

I think Carr will play decent down the stretch and start year one in Vegas. The last thing the Raiders will do is try and upgrade him with a stop gap IMO. Mariota, Winston etc None of those dudes are upgrades. So unless you find a guy with a better QBR and completion % for Vegas I doubt it happens. Gruden is probably OK with the floor and unhappy with the ceiling.

Gruden is likely thinking with some better defense and a few stud weapons on offense he can get a little bit more from Carr as the QB. Enough to maybe make the playoffs and keep the fans happy. I fully expect him to be looking at the draft for an upgrade. Tua is the only blue chipper we may get a shot at. Burrow is a lock for #1 right now IMO.

Its safe to say the Raiders will have two top 20 picks. Probably both top 15. (Bears schedule is rough moving forward could be 0-4) Those two picks could potentially move you up for a slipping Tua. Maybe this injury makes it possible for the Raiders to land the OTHER stud QB from this draft.

I see Burrow, Tua & Lawrence as the 3 blue chip non NFL QB's right now. Im sure there are more, but those 3 represent a definite upgrade over Carr from a draft standpoint.

TLDR: Hope Tua slips. Expect Carr to start year one. Gruden/Mayock will be looking to upgrade somehow. Wont force it tho.

You just have to hope Mayock can be the voice of reason here.

Gruden and Carr as next door dumbass neighbors in Vegas is my nightmare.

Somebody has to stop this madness. I think Gruden knows. I think Gruden would love to cut him this afternoon but he’s the master of coach speak. Him and Dirty Pete.

If I'm in charge? I trade Carr and then draft a QB in the 4th. Let Kizer, Peterman, and 4th Rd pick battle for the worst record in football and grab the best QB in the 2021 draft. Don't even fuck around with a Fitzmagic/Mariota/Foles type of cast-off. Go out and earn the #1 pick like a grown man.

We don’t have the roster for that. If that was gonna be the plan, it was only gonna work last year. We’re actually, TOO good.

"Cooper will be the focal point of our offense"

OK Jon haha.

Mayock & Gruden both are aware of Carr's ceiling. "He's a good QB, who could be great" aka he is not great, only good. Thats from Gruden.

The issue isnt Carr's ceiling its the Las Vegas Raiders floor. You can expect that the team and maybe even Carr will be improved with more weapons on offense and a better defense. If this team is close to a playoff team now with Carr I seriously doubt they try and tinker with a stop gap. Carr year 3 with WR weapons and a better defense should technically be better. No crazy road schedule, no over seas game and a brand new stadium hype.

Its smart to keep Carr and the status quo moving forward (almost a playoff team) - Doesn't mean you dont do everything in your power to get your hand on a franchise rookie QB contract. If you move up for Tua and redshirt him, "Camp Carr" will get over it. Worse case he plays great and you have trade chips.

The Raiders still need to build the roster out for any QB to succeed. So Carr isnt the only issue right now. He may be a longterm issue but we have UDFA players starting and rookies playing everywhere. This team is still a work in progress roster wise. It would feel dishonest to say Carr is the only thing keeping us from a Super Bowl. Just as dishonest as thinking he will ever be elite.

TLDR: Raiders want to upgrade Carr. Not replace him randomly. I only expect a rookie QB to be added.

The Raiders aren't going to Vegas and put some journeymen scrub like Bridgewater or Borkles back there... and I'm not confident in our ability to develop a draft pick quickly...

I'd watch what Carolina does with Cam Newton personally... he'd be the one vet that would put asses in the seats...

What’s the difference between a journeyman scrub and a home grown scrub?

Familiarity, which is why I’d personally go with the guys we have in house for a year. We could buy a playoff caliber roster for the rook with the amount of cap space we have.

Logical but not what people want to hear today. :pWhat are the odds of us hitting on some elite QB in the draft anyway? Teams passed on Mahomes and most passed on Lamar Jackson. It’s really a crap shoot for the most part and with our history of drafting young QB, the likelihood would be high we draft another bust.

Isnt the idea to upgrade? Or just save money and bitch about how Borkels is too slow to chase down all those pick 6's he'll throw?

Gruden is game planing with a handicap. He knows this.

“I think we all take that personal. It’s a hard thing to do in this league, which is run the ball the way we run it. We’re not running options and scrambling for yards. We’re handing it to a back, and we’re doing it in some predictable situations. We just got to keep working. I love our line, and we’re going to need them to play great for sure on Sunday.”

We'll I've been banging the 'draft a Qb' drum for a while but I don't think Carr has the fortitude to just accept being second fiddle. There is probably no player in the NFL who is more...sensitive.

I think you have to completely pull the bandaid off and get his stank off the franchise. If that means adding a guy for a year while a draft pick develops so be it.
