The Not Too Early 2020 Draft Thread

I think Lamb and Jefferson are pretty close and that’s not a slight to Lamb at all. The more I think about it the more it makes sense to me that this draft is the one to take a swing at a QB at 12.

Just wonder what those odds are now with Carr AND Mariota on the team.

I gotta see them move on from Carr for me to think they are gonna draft a 3rd string QB at 12 now.

There are only two QB’s that could probably come in and beat both of them out (this year). Neither are likely to be there at 12.

any scenario that involves QB at 12 also involves trading Carr-- it has to.

I don’t think we’ll do it but it makes sense doing it in a draft where you have an extra pick and possibly being outside the range for the real premium players. Obviously not the only option but the logic is sound.

Also, I think Queen and Murray are getting propped up in a relatively weak LB class. I absolutely still think we need to address the position at some point in the draft but not sure either of those guys warrants a first rounder unless we are reaching for need...

I think most folks have them where they should be. Late 1st early 2nd. Murray was a difference maker on tape. Worked out well. I never got a chance to focus much on Queen. But the same could probably be said for them.

I think that’s pretty spot on. They aren’t the two Devins from last year. A lot of us were saying all year (I had Bush running in the 4.4’s and being an early 1st rounder in like October) that those two would go super high for LB’s.

I think we have these two at 20-40 probably as far as big board.

Yep. I agree.

I’ll probably change my mind two more times before the draft, but today, I think they go into 2020 with Carr/Mariota.

They might take Hurts if he falls far enough.

I don't expect a QB in the first unless Herbert drops to 12. Maybe Hurts or someone in the 3rd as a more realistic option. I do expect us to draft a QB at one point in time this draft just not very high. It's not what I 'want' but what I'm predicting Gruden/Mayock end up doing. I think Mariota is almost considered a draft pick to Gruden and his plan is to tear him down and build him back up.

yeah 20-40 is about right but 19 is really the high end of that (just outside it actually)
I don't think either is as good a prospect as Bush was. Given the rest of the talent in the draft where they are slotted in the 20-40 range is fine. I personally don't have a problem with either one at 19, I think with more speed we could actually play 3 LBs more often.

I hear you. But if we didn’t do it last year, with 3.....

I don’t see us doing it this year with 2. And Mariota on the roster.

Not without moving on form one first.

Later in the draft I think is fair game though. And if they move on from Carr, then I will absolutely agree the likelihood at 12 or 19 (1st round in general) goes WAY up.

I believe Gruden likes Carr and Mariota a lot more than BR.Net.

That’s what I’m saying, neither one are as good as Bush. Or White. But they are a notch below. And both COULD be better then the two we just signed.

I wouldn’t hate it (a LB in 1st) but I think WR and CB are bigger needs. I’d be more ok with Lee/Morrow as the 3rd LB than any player on the roster as the #2 CB, and it seem as though the staff considers Mullen as the #2. So we are looking for a #1.

I believe Gruden has Carr similarly ranked as most of us do (average/16th) but it's his balls on the line if he takes, say, Jordan Love at 12 and he busts so he's not quite as willing to dump the average dude as we are.

I typed like five responses and deleted them.

I'll at least leave my Carr baggage in the correct thread and not shit all over a civil draft discussion.

Yep but of course it’s just the haters that can’t have a civil, logical discussion amirite?
