The Del Rio, Pagano & Norton Thread

If the defense comes out and stinks the bed again against one of the worst offenses in the NFL, then Norton has to be culpable in some fashion. KNJ gets a pass for the first year but now two years running and much of the same shit. Say he's trying to run the same shit they did in Seattle without the bullets. Our DL doesn't get any pressure on the QB and the guy rarely blitzs.

Turnaround? The Bears are 3-13. :wtf1:

I don't know about turnaround but the Bear defense had a ton of injuries to start the year and actually weren't that bad. Dude made chicken salad out of chicken shit as they say.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that former Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley is expected to join Lynn wherever Lynn goes this offseason. Schefter refers to it as a “Lynn-Bradley ticket” that would presumably be part of Lynn’s pitch to the Bills and other prospective employers.

So Bradley is showing he hasn't got the balls to be a HC.

Dude gonna put his tail between his legs and follow some other fool.

Next.

He knows better... no team in their right mind is going to hire a guy with the W-L record that he has put together. Pretty much impossible to get any type of fan base stoked up about that type of HC hiring and ownership isn't going to get behind a guy that is going to cost them at the gate right off the bat. He's going to have to work himself up the coordinator ranks again to have any type shot at another HC gig.

That has to change.

Shouldn't having a franchise QB and a 12-4 record erase the problems of the past?

Yah but still lot of problems on the defensive side of the ball. Carr's play covered up a lot of inadequacies on this team. Guessing Muskrat will be ok. KNJ not so sure.

I don't think this team has to settle any longer. Most of the time, good coordinators are going to stay away from the dumpster fires as there is no job security there - so perfectly understandable why better coaches would stay away these past 15 years. Not the case now. With the young talent and franchise players on both sides of the ball, this team has the tools to succeed so a coach would have to feel pretty comfortable in holding his job or possibly being considered for advancement if he does well (which shouldn't be an impossible task).

part of our issue is outside of MEJ we have no powerful people who can penetrate, and unfortunately it looks like we can't count on him. McGee looked good for a while, but he's not a dominate interior lineman who can play all 3 snaps. I hope Williams is completely embarrassed by how he played this year and gets his ass in shape this offseason or we dump him.

unfortunately we have a lot needs again on defense this offseason. I like Riley, but he can be upgraded. We need at least a DT, 2 corners, OLB and another safety. For all our upgrades our secondary still sucks and our interior line is worse. I believe if we could get a MEJ that stays healthy it would help our MLB and secondary immensely.

And state of the art training facilities. Who wouldn't want to coach here?

Williams was dog-shit this year, and I have no clue what happened to Jelly. The team miscalculated badly on three positions: LB (Heeney was never the answer), corner (Haden should've been benched for Carrie, who's been the better player since both were drafted), and with Ward (so not ready for the snaps he got).

And herein lies the problem. KNJ trying to coach these guys up like they are the Seahags. They get a lot of pressure from their front four where we can't. Norton hates to blitz so this leaves our backers and db's vulnerable. You have to play your guys to your strengths and he has not shown the ability to do so.

Yes, lot of problems on D side of the ball this past year, but going forward the personnel accumulated for the D seems promising. Along front 7, there will be Mack, MEJ, Irvin, A Smith as a starting point. Ward should be greatly improved after a full offseason under his belt plus mix and match a couple of serviceable fatties... Add in a healthy Joseph with a year under his belt. Amerson and Smith get more than their share of criticism, but they are at minimum an average cb tandem.

Personally, I think that the personnel is there to have a decent D. The problem is more about scheme, coordination, leadership, and experience playing together than lack of talent.

I don't think we need new corners Smith and Amerson will suffice. I would like to see us add a young guy to take over the 3rd spot that is for sure though and groom him for a #1 in the near future. Problem with our DB's has been lack of pressure up front.

Amerson and Smith both can be had on deep routes. We knew this about Amerson comming in and, quickly found this out with Smith. If we get consistent pressure up front these guys would excell.

Another factor is our LB situation. Safety is being forced to cover TE, RB and account for the deeper routes. If we can replace Malcom with a LB that can handle these guys Amerson and Smith can get a little more help over the top. I think Ball if he comes back next year could be that guy but, I am still drafting someone else as well.

Tl;Dr

Get pressure up front, LB's that can do their jobs, Smith and Amerson look a lot better.

Scott Bair raider beat reporter from CSN Bay Area on the Game earlier said that JDR pretty happy with the job Muskrat has done and wants to keep continuity on that side of the ball. If there's any coaching changes, will most likely happen on the defensive side.

:wavey:

Why are bay area reporters such queerbags? Is it to much to ask to get one of them Sally Humdingers to throw their apple bag on the table at a JDR presser and just flat out ask

"Hi Jack, Nips from BR.net.. Couple questions... One, Your defense has been complete ass the whole season and the entire NFL fan base knows this, nothings changed since week 1. When do you plan to address this problem? And secondly, Is it KNJ or the defensive or a combination of the two, can you bypass the corporate talk and call out the players or coaches that are the cause of this abortion?"
