This is a two round mock draft, with each team represented by the fans. Yours truly is the Raiders GM, and we are midway through the first round. Already some curveballs, and interesting to see how one unexpected pick changes things.

Like to hear everyone's comments, and opinions on where I should be going with the 2nd round pick.

Well looks like Crabtee fell right into our laps. Although I'm afraid to tell you he isn't getting by Seattle. While they could take an OT I believe they think Walter Jones has a couple of years left in the tank. Receiver is a huge need for those knuckleheads.

I dont care to get into a shooting match with any team in 2009, we'll lose

We gave up more than 24 points a game

This is the bigger gash that needs the stitches

^ This MF'er will see to it that shit stops right now

massraider sent me a PM with his phone number so I could text him. Unfortunately it included an extra digit in the number so I can't make out what it is.
:D

Everette Brown will be curing cancer by the time the draft comes around... :pound:

I'd have to go with Alex Mack as a sure fire bet if he's still available. If not Max Unger would be my second choice.

I think the consensus around this board for the second round, if we got Crabtree in the first, would be something like ...

OT -- Eben Britton, Phil Loadholt

DE -- Paul Kruger, Robert Ayers, Michael Johnson

DT -- Peria Jerry, Ron Brace

C -- Alex Mack, Max Unger

I'd consider DT among the last of the priorities for the second round, because I think there should be just as good options in the third round with Fili Moala and Ricky Jean-Francois.

Yeah, it'll be tough to pass on Ayers or Michael Johnson. Boy, doesn't Johnson just reek of Quentin Moses though?:nono:

It doesn't matter what position we take in RD1, Alex Mack is the best player on that list IMO...

I think Al is going to take OL with the 1st pick. Monroe, Oher and the Smith's are all nice T's. Its a good year for LT but I just hope we take a guy who can move over and play RT if Henderson locks down LT. We dont need two guys who cant play RT. A.Smith would be a very nice fit. He could play anywhere but C. If Mario plays weak we move the Rookie over to LT. The only reason im down on J.Smith is he is the weakest run blocker. As far as Rnd 2 I dont think Mack will be there. And I know for a fact Al wouldnt pass DHB in Rnd2 after he blazes 4.3 at 6'3.

I still would love Crabtree or Maclin, but im getting the sneaking suspicion we strongly address the trenches early in this draft.

I wouldnt bet the house on that, the old man did everything but stroke Henderson and the Schillens crank

Derrick Burgess is a FA after the this year

Al will go after either Orakpo or Brown at #7.. just my gut feelin' knowing the bastard for years

Really, is there any way we can screw up this pick?

Take Everette Brown. Take Orakpo. Or Oher. Or Crabtree. Or Jason Smith. Or Raji. Or, yes, even Jenkins.

There's just enough good players available that we're bound to take someone who can help the team.

Agreed... and we won't have to chunk up a top-5 salary to get a top-5 talent. Unless of course the ol' senile bastard gets a woody for Jenkins and deems it a necessity to leap frog Cleveland to get him.

2nd round pick came and went. With Mack, Unger, and Peria Jerry gone, it was a no-brainer. Went with Michael Johnson.

Was thinking about an OT, but this mock is intended to me done in the mode of "I am Al Davis". So not necessarily who I, or we, would pick, but how we think it will actually play out. Because I would have thought about reaching for Ron Brace, or taking that OT from Connecticut, who is tailor-made for this scheme.

Check out Jerry Mac's latest blog entry, there's no way we are taking an OT early.

– More Cable vs. Kiffin:

“(Cable) has a passion for the thing, which a lot of these others, they have a passion for the authority it gives them or focus with you people,” Davis said. “That guy would kill us every day. Jerry would listen to him every day. We took a left tackle and didn’t play him the whole season because he was my pick . . . the couple of games he played he dominated the game. He dominated Gaines Adams and Mario Williams.”

The “Jerry” Davis is talking about is yours truly. The left tackle is Mario Henderson, who was criticized by the coach in the press.

I plead guilty for actually listening and reporting what the head coach says. Silly me. I thought it was part of the job.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if we go out and sign someone like Ray Willis to play RT... He may not be thought of as a top tier free agent, but he is someone who probably fits Cable's scheme and would come pretty reasonably priced... Bookend Florida St tackles, we'd have to hire someone to teach them to count high enough to get the snap count right....

Wouldn't shock me at all to see something like this:
LT: Mario
LG: Gallery
OC: Grove
RG: Kwame
RT: Willis
