*** Official not too soon 2024 draft thread***

Doubt we are close enough for Caleb or Maye - so hoping for Burrow-eque rises from the field

Jimmy G goes down early and the tank party starts w a Week 3 Hoyer sighting, All QB's in play for the Raiders and our top3 draft pick. Let me microwave.
September prospects analysis is now an annual event in Raiderland. Focus on the draft before the 4th game is even in the books.

How many teams are the Raiders better than right now? Its not that many with our putrid defense. I could see this team scoring points but if we suffer any real offensive injuries we could be picking top 5 easy. Idk

The Athletic Mock Draft by Dane Brugler

15. Las Vegas Raiders: J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan

The fourth quarterback drafted in this mock, and you don’t need to squint to see the talent with McCarthy. He is a loose athlete for his size with NFL-level arm strength and the poise to make plays.

and thats the thing - we see it with Caleb - I don't think theres much that could happen short of lower body amputation to keep him out of the top 10 next year. But guys like Van Dyke or McCarthy, Penix, etc could all shoot up or down. Rattler who everyone has soured on maybe not.

He's a work in progress but def has the upside if he can improve as a passer this year. The Michigan offense is pretty solid so he should put up good numbers. Def has a good arm, size and mobility/speed. He can make plays with his arm and legs already. It remains to be seen if he can become a good QB mentally and make smart plays and throws this year. If he can develop that more round one is on the table.
