MEJ

@VicTafur Mario Edwards returning to practice today

Outlaw talked about this before last year, but dude needs to be around 280 to be effective, and in college was hovering north of 300lbs. Hard to tell what his weight is at from those Instagram feeds, but he looks big. Again, if he can give 10 snaps a game, that's a help. Tired of seeing Ward pushed around, and Autry (who's a gamer) in there on 70% of snaps. Mack, Autry, and Irvin are playing way too much.

He played at 290 last year, I thought.

That's about right, he was like 320 his last year at FL state, got in great shape last year. He really can't be less effective than Ward or even Ellis the way he's playing.

After last year's semi-breakout season, I thought Autry would be steered towards heavier weights and syringes of mass building chemicals, come in at around 285-290 this season and be a stouter inside presence than he was before.

He's not cooperating with my imagined plan. I am not well pleased.

Agree. He gets pushed around way too easily in the run game.

He supposedly came into camp under 280lbs last year. He looked heavy this year in camp and preaseaon. I'm more worried that it's by design rather than him being out of shape. I hope they aren't trying to make him into a full time DT.

Frustrating; you'd think that is something you could gauge in college scouting.
My guess is that Autry was brought in as a UDFA prospect primarily for his pass rushing potential. He's been a nice addition as a rotational guy, but been pressed into a much larger role with the injury to MEJ.

Still needed to add strength. The fuckjoy.

Hopefully dude comes back strong as he was before he went down.

IMO, he was the 2nd best player on our Defense at the time

Okay, this was a hip thing. Now, eventually you can tape an ankle or knee, even put a metal support brace on. Hips...not so much. Whatever rehab you do with an injury that basically means do nothing to stress your lower body, how much cardio can anyone really do?

Watching the interview, the key thing to me was his demeanor and attitude about the whole deal. Someone asked that given how hard he'd rehabbed just to get back to play and then get injured in his first quarter, how hard was that. Without losing his upbeat 'tude, he started, "Well, it sucked, but things happen for a reason." When asked about a timetable, started by saying "Well, I'm different" -- shows he knows it will take the time it takes.

With what he showed 'tude-wise, I have confidence that he'll be back when it's safe to play all-out; and he will make a difference when he does.
