No matter who the Raiders draft the team stands a very good chance of getting a player that won't make and immediate impact. We have to go back to 1998 and Charles Woodson to find a Raider 1st round choice that had an instant impact on the team and the league. I don't know about y'all but I'm nervous as hell about this draft. I see sooooo many ways in which we blow it and so few ways in which we are able to select a player that will be an immediate difference maker.

God, I just wish the draft was here already so we can start complaining about the player we select.

I just want to know ahead of time what everyone would consider "blowing it" in the first round.

Because from where I sit, ANY pick can be spun either way.

Raiders RB Darren McFadden stretches out for the goal line on his 19-yard touchdown run against the Chiefs.

Rookie Darren McFadden rushed for 164 yards to help give the Raiders a happy ending to a tumultuous week that started with a 41-14 blowout loss to
Denver on Monday night.

Dunno bout you, but this kid made me a lot happier after witnessing the nightmare opener...........M

Passing on Monroe, A. Smith to draft Macline or Bey would be blowing it. Those two guys would have far more impact -- opening holes, protecting JR, allowing Miller to catch passes --next year, and over 10 years, than Macline or Bey.

Crabtree's the only WR I want at #7, and I'm not really big on him, particularly after his "no comment."

I'm rooting for Raji becuase DT is such a huge need, and it would say to me that our new DC and DL coach see value in Raji. (I just don't see this happening).

My preference/pipe dream if Monroe or A. Smith are gone: Trade down.

Agreed on the trade down, although I'll be beating a dead horse when I tell you again that you are underrating Maclin.

He's a good player bro. (Damn near every legitimate NFL draft source has him as a top ten prospect)

I think we won't trade down in round one, but we'll trade UP from rd 2. I think we'll deal 1 of Burgess/Bush for a mid round pick and shore up the lines with a young player.

Only a few more hours now.

Hey settle down on that Bush trade talk.

I never said I agreed with it Postmaster, LOL.

I can honestly say, many posters here swayed me to the 'keep Bush' side, but I think DMC is the primary back and we have plans on keeping Fargas. Bush represents our biggest trade asset, and all I keep hearing is how we want to aquire more picks...

Look, I won't jump off any buildings if we draft Macline. But I would rather have Monroe or A. Smith. Raji's just a preference, but I see why people rate them about the same. Bey, on the other hand, would really lower my moral.

I think Maclin could develop into a bigger version of Santonia Holmes type of receiver

the more i watch of Maclin (since i have assumed he'll be the pick), the more i see his similarities to Holmes

I'm totally fine with the Macklin pick. Not my first choice but the guy is definitely a playmaker. I honestly don't think Al is going to blow a #7 and the bucks on a guy with some major ? in DHB. All that shit we've been hearing about DHB to Oakland is all regurgitated crap. Lombardi doesn't know dick. Carry on gentlemen!

Heyward-Bey/Crabtree would be blowing it @ 7... We dont need another Warrick or williamson.. especially on this team

I'm cut from a different cloth...

This draft is huge for the Raiders... They cannot afford to blow this pick

Much rather take a solid player i.e OT that will be on this team over gambling on some guy that has "potential"

Theres guys in rd 2 that have just as much potential as Crabtree/Bey

Only the staff knows Walkers health.. and if he's fine... Theres no reason to take a WR at 7

For me, Heyward-Bey is the only guy being mentioned that would be blowing it.

I guess, anyone other than:

Crabtree
A. Smith
Maclin
A. Curry
Monroe
J. Smith
Oher
Orakpo
Raji
E. Brown (even though many now have him in the 2nd round)

... would be blowing it.

Really, alot of success from draft picks, regardless of where they are taken is where they land.

Thats why the Steelers keep finding guys that seem to play forever at high levels because they draft guys that fit their system

I believe its gonna go down just like this

1) Stafford
2) Jason Smith
3) Eugene Monroe
4) Sanchez
5) Crabtree
6) Andre Smith

I just dont see the Chiefs taking Curry or Jackson - they'll go Monroe

Heres the players that more than likely will be there when we pick

B.J Raji
Curry
Orakpo
E. Brown
Maclin
Heyward-Bey

I believe Raiders will take Bey.. dont like it at all, especially with Raji there

If they pass on Raji and take Bey - it'll be a monumental fuck up

I would consider blowing it if Al took Bey at #7. Trading back with the Jets to #17 and taking him there would be a good move though.

Unfortunately that was his only good game as basically the rest of his season was wiped out by injuries. I'm not saying he won't become a pro bowl caliber player (I think he will) but his rookie year was a major dissapointment. We haven't had a 1st round pick become a pro bowler in his first season since Woodson.

If the Raiders take DHB with the 7th pick I will give all of my Raider gear to the Salvation Army and won't spend another penny on anything Raider oriented (tickets to games, gear, memorabila) until the old man leaves. I will still root for the team (after 30+ years of being a fan it's impossible to change teams) but I will protest the only way I know how...not giving them a dime of my hard earned money.

What if DHB becomes a superstar?

Will you buy a jersey after his 2nd or 3rd All Pro mention?

LOL.

I can't even begin to envision a scenario where that happens. But, if it does, I'd buy X a jersey too! :D
