FUCK YOU PAUL GUENTHER (and now you're GONE)

No wonder he was so happy to get the fuck out:

Makes sense why players like Crosby have been unlocked after Guenther. Glad Key is having success in SF. Wonder how Hurst will do if he can get healthy.

Saw him in @chucksmithnfl gym 2 years ago and I asked him why don’t he use the moves he works on with Chuck. Said his DC wouldn’t let him ! I was like that’s sad cuz they (the Raiders) we’re holding him back ! This dude been that guy since Highschool here in Georgia

Shit makes absolutely no sense. Someone help me understand. There's got to be a reason.

Sounds like excuse making, to me. Crosby had 10 sacks as a rookie. Key was given every opportunity here. Good for him for achieving some level of success in SF as a pass rush specialist (3.5% SIS; 61.2 PFF).

The exchange made sense. The idea that Guenther wouldn't let Key use passrush moves does not. I need that explained to me.

Guenther wants his DEs to lock out their long arms and engage the OTs throughout the rush. It's the only move that Ferrell used in college.

That would explain why Guenther wanted Ferrell #4 and why Key wasn't allowed to use advanced hand fighting.

And Guenther kept trying to fix Maxx too. He was too active. Didn't engage the OT. Wanted to fight hands and get past. Paulie doesn't like that.

But...but...

I think @Sleet is correct. We tried him in so many different ways to try and get production that I find it hard to believe that someone was telling him not to use pass rush moves. And that person really would have been Marinelli more so than Guenther which makes it even harder to believe. I've watched him quite a bit in SF and it's nothing specific about his usage or technique... he's just playing better. If anything it's his first step and closing speed. I think it's just a case of a guy needing the kick in the ass of having his career look finite.

Is there ANYTHING that Guenther did that seemed logical to you? Or... Does it fit the narrative that he was unyielding and unbendable, forcing his players to change to fit his very rigid expectation of players?

Your response is perfect.

Maybe it's his LB coach mentality. The DL keeps the OL engaged so the LBs stay clean. How you're supposed to rush the QB like that, I don't know. I...Jesus.

One of the most frustrating things in life, at least for me, is having no fucking clue what someone's thought process is or could possibly be. Nevermind agreeing or disagreeing. I just want shit to make some type of sense. How did you arrive at your idea? I have no idea here, and it irks me.

This at least makes sense.

G’s an idiot, no argument from me there. But on passing downs, you think G demanded that?
