DT Room 2020

Mayock had previously mentioned PJ as a guy that has a challenge with new DL coach coming in that won't accept anything less than 100% which was an interesting statement.

I missed that. Ha. And Mayock said it immediately after the comment about Hurst. I was so anxious to make that crack about me being "right" about Hurst, I smooth missed the Hall comment.

For anyone else who hasn't heard Mayock openly shitting on the defense:

Franchised, time to look at next tier. Hargrave, Reader, Harris-- or Kinlaw in draft.

Reader was one of the guys I crushed on my first time going to Senior Bowl practice. He wasn't highly regarded by draftniks at the time. No telling what real scouts thought. But when I saw the OLs & DLs in one on ones, Reader really stood out.

He's a NT, so I doubt we'd sign him to play next to Hankins. I wouldn't hate it, though. He can pressure the pocket a little, and the two of them together would sure give the LBs room to flow.

Saw this guy flip by on the Twitter.

Guess when you are a part time guy and play next to the best player in college football you get overlooked. Not by @NIPS though... gotta give him some props.

Not gonna call him anything special, all I've seen is this clip. (And I didn't even have to donate to patreon) Kid may be worth a further look.

Might have to SQARQ him up. :koolaid:

Stock down?

DI Derrick Brown, Auburn
Some view Derrick Brown as a top-three pick overall, and while that's somewhat of a puzzling thought in and of itself, Brown's Combine performance makes it even more head-scratching.

The Auburn defensive lineman placed in the bottom seven in the 40-yard dash, vertical, broad jump, three-cone (where he finished dead last) and 20-yard shuttle. We didn't expect the 6-foot-5, 326-pound interior defensive lineman to be lights out in his testing, but we did expect a little more from him.

He's still a great prospect and likely top-10 player on our big board, but this class contains insane high-end talent. Brown has been a great run defender, tackler and pass-rusher from a grading perspective (84.0-plus against the run and in the pass-rush in each of the last two seasons). With his testing numbers, though, there's some concern as to whether or not he'll be able to hold his own in the pass-rush at the next level.

wonder if he might drop down to 12. Might end up with another Ferrell if we pull the trigger though... dude looked the part on the field last year though.

Well when in doubt, go to the tape. We really need a difference maker in the interior of our DL. Hurst is an upfield guy.

I haven't spent much time on Brown tbh but he seems like a guy that might end up sliding to us.

Draftnik guys - what's a good NFL comp for him? I've always thought of him as more of a Hankins than a Jarrett type.

I've seen Kris Jenkins and like it.

Big. strong, athletic and versatile.

One of those guys who will be solid against the run and pass but isnt a 10+ sack a year guy IMO.
