Draft Day 3 (2019) - filling the gaps

Brian Burt has never caught a pass before.

Let’s not worry about the #6 WR on Fresno.

Brian Burt will more than likely never catch a pass in the NFL, just an example that shorter guys who can run fast 40's arnt hard to find.

Around 8 give or take of the 70 receivers drafted or otherwise that ended up on a team directly after the draft fit that ratio. Being in the 90th percentile is pretty fucking rare. Also, let’s not start lumping 4.3 and high 4.4 guys together to try and make a point. Deandre Washington ran closer to Hunter Renfrow than a 4.3 for fucks sake.

What you getting worked up for? We'r just discussing a different opinion.

You used 4.5 as your yardstick from this years draft, to prove a point, so im following your lead with Washingtons 4.49. Guess it comes down to your definition of what a freak athlete is by NFL standards. Id consider it something thats extremely hard to find, i dont think shorter guys that run fast are hard to find, you can pick them up in Udfa. The best official stat we'v got to go on is the combine 40's, that suggests the shorter guys are historicaly some of the fastest guys. Like i said, agree to disagree.

I used that threshold in response to you lumping them together in your initial response and to show that, even with those very generous parameters, it’s not that common. If we’re agreeing that the combine is the best official stat then we don’t have to speculate. It’s 4 out of 48 wide receivers that participated were under 6’ and ran less than 4.5. That’s 8%. If you want to do the work of going through and looking up the guys that got drafted or signed as a UDFA you’ll see around 10-11%. It’s not what I think is freakish so much as what you think is common.

I never mentioned any players in my initial response, you used 4.5 as a yardstick, i mentioned washington and his 4.49 in reponse to it. Yeah we'l agree the combine is the only real official times we'v got...nearly all the fastest times ever recorded are by guys 5 11 or under, those are facts. To say its unusual for shorter guys to have good top speed is a complete contradiction of those facts. Most, if not all, teams in the whole league will have a few guys 5'11 or under who run in the 4.3s/4.4s in the 40, i dont think its freakish if most teams have got them, id class that as pretty common. If we start talking about how good those players are then thats a different conversation but with regards just hight/speed, imo theres nothing to suggest that shorter guys dont have as good and in many cases better long speed than the taller guys. Like you say, we maybe just differ in what we class as freakish and common.

Facts are facts broski. If 4 out of 48 qualifies as common to you, well then...

They sure are, Nearly all the fastest 40's ever recorded my man, standing the test of time, short men can run it seems.

We'r never, ever going to agree on this, absolutely miles away from each other in opinion and getting further away with each post. Im sure everyone else is getting bored of us. Just accept your wrong and we'l move on....Joking, we'r just going have to accept we'r not changing each others minds and move on :beerbang:

Fair enough. If actual numbers don't resonate then it's a waste of bandwidth anyway.

When you have to go back 3 pages to try and remember what the initial point of the argument was...:killme:

What's the point of this stuff?

WR's under 5'11 being "rare" if they run a certain 40?

This is all very confusing... I think I need to meet up with @BigTron somke a bowl and come back to this a later date.

You go out of your way to post about stuff you supposedly don't care about more than anyone here...

Well, technically there might be one person but nobody actually knows what he cares about.

LJ Scott from Michigan State has quit football apparently. He was considered a late round/UDFA option by some here.
