***Draft Day 1 - 2024*** (Don't post "spoilers" in this thread)

Would not surprise me if Penix goes in top 10, and Raiders only have the choice of Nix at #13.

Penix stock rising

It’s been assumed the top four QBs are Williams, Daniels, Maye and McCarthy, but don’t be surprised if Penix enters the discussion come Thursday. Recently, Penix has benefited as many offensive assistant coaches have spent time studying University of Washington players, including the Huskies’ starting offensive tackles and top three wide receivers. Though analysts and reporters have not mentioned his name at high volume over the last month, one GM told me, “He’s the best-kept secret in this draft.”

ESPN’s Dan Graziano reports the Raiders are “thought to be high” on Washington QB Michael Penix.

The team would like to land LSU’s Jayden Daniels but likely won’t have that opportunity with Washington reportedly set on taking Daniels with the second overall pick. That could leave the Raiders with Penix or Bo Nix as the last viable quarterback options if they want to avoid being shutout at QB. Graziano said “if the quarterback market starts drying up quickly and they feel they need to trade up in order to avoid being shut out, the Chargers at No. 5 and the Titans at No. 7 are two teams that people believe are willing to trade down.” Penix would likely be a big upgrade for Vegas pass catchers, including Davante Adams.

Some choice quotes, each from a different coach/scout:

  • “I think Caleb has a chance to be very good, but I’m not sure about the wiring. For me, it’s how motivated he is to just win.

  • “He gives off a Russell Wilson vibe with this lack of self-awareness. ‘I’m kind of above everybody.’”

  • “I like Caleb as a player, but the locker room part of it concerns me … he’s going to have to understand the difference in where he’s at and how he’s been treated to being the quarterback in an NFL locker room.”

That's actually a pretty good comp attitude wise. Different but the same.

Uhhh, gross.

I would like to believe we wouldn't trade a king's ransome for a guy who isn't essentially squeaky clean in all important areas..

This thread is going to be epic.

@007 and @Nobodyinparticular knew

Aside from the Jayden connection to AP and a picture of AP with Arnold not a whole lot of info or even too much speculation as to who the Raiders like. Seems that in years past we would have already had some type of leak as to who we are looking at by now for sure. I think TT and staff have done a solid job of keeping things under wraps thus far. Only other blurb I have seen was TT likes Bo and that was months ago now.

Hard to split media speculation and fan speculation from real interest.

Telesco trends? He drafts ol high. He is very good at getting 1st round value. He likes LBs on the 2nd day and early 3rd. He doesn't trade down. Ever. Trading in general is rare.

Media/fans say we love jayden and penix. That's about it.

Roster says we need a cb, competition at rt and rg and a QB.

Maxx Crosby loves Latu

Ap likes a few different people including Arnold.

Some insiders think there is a push from ownership/AP to move for a qb. Telesco seems hesitant to commit to that.

Id say we are taking a qb with one of our top 2 picks barring an empty cupboard when we pick. Almost guaranteed. Id say it's highly likely we pick at least one ol and cb within our top 4 picks.
Id nearly guarantee an LB between our 3rd and 5th round picks.

Everything else is situational.

Loving both Jayden and Penix kind of makes me feel like they don't know what they want in a QB.
