Combine 2020

Simmons & Okudah are top ten locks at this point. Id bet a big bag of cash on that one.
Those two and Tua (if medicals clear) are players I’d trade up to #8 to get.

safeties taken in the top ten in the last 20 years - Jamal Adams, Mark Barron, Eric Berry, LaRon Landry, Michael Huff, Donte Whitner (I still don't know why), Sean Taylor

Average - 1 every 2-3 years. Mark Barron is the closest comp to Simmons.

Off Ball LBs in the last 10 -

Devin White, Devin Bush, Roquan Smith, Anthony Barr, Luke Kuechly, Rolando McClain. 6 LBs out of 10 years. Bush is the closest comp.

Guys who comp closest to simmons like Deion Jones, Deone Buchanon, Shaq Thompson, Telvin Smith - haven't been drafted as highly.

But the NFL is shifting to value players like Simmons more so that may push him up. We'll see. I hope we get a shot at him.

OTs are in demand and this is the best OT class in a while. I could see three of those guys in top 10. If I had to guess these guys are top 10 bound: Burrow, Tua, Simmons, Wirfs, Becton, Okudah. Just don't see them slipping out of top 10. Maybe Tua with pre draft rumors about his hip, but if he checks out, he's gone.

if the QBs drop (Herbert and Love) maybe we take one or we have a good spot for trading out.

I'd make that bet for Okudah. Clear top CB, size speed, smooth hips, productivity, faced good comp. Not sure what else you could want.

I get where you are coming from. It's certainly possible. I'm just saying there are plenty of ways that either - and simmons especially could drop out.
I really agree that Simmons could fall out of the top 10. I don't think its likely, but if a few teams drop back or go another route he could fall. With that said I wouldn't bet a dime that it happens, but given the history for S/LB players it wouldn't shock me at all.

Well I hope you guys are right and the Raiders trade up for him. I won't be shocked if he goes to the Lions or Giants if they stay put. Panthers at #7 just had a HOF LB retire. Might have to jump up there in a trade.

People trading up for QB's would really help an scenario where the Raiders get Simmons. OT/WR is good enough to help this scenario. I dont see anyone top 10 drafting those other DE's tho. Too many question marks. Brown and Kinlaw going early would also do wonders. But I still think he is too much of a unicorn to slide. 6'5 4.3 speed, production at 5 spots, championship pedigree and no injury history. When QB's are shredding the NFL and cant be stopped! Id give up assets to move up for him and laugh later.

Henderson might go to JAX and surprise some people. They need a CB now and he is FLA guy.

I think Brown goes top 10. And AT LEAST 2 Ts, 2 QBs.

I cant really figure outthe Cardinals either. They have enough at WR to pass Murrays old teammate Lamb. That combo makes sense for them. I also could see them taking the best OL possible to protect that midget. They have picks later and I'm sure FA will clear things up soon, but they might also take a defender. That defense is awful and Peterson is being wasted there.

Best argument against trading Carr for Newton is that it ups the possibility they take Simmons.

You mean other than being a better QB?

Carr and 19 for Newton and 7.

On contract for one more year. Same caliber of dude (IE not our QBOTF)
So, trade Carr for the equivalent of the #30 pick, a $5M cap hit, and marketing a broken down Cam while we groom a rookie to start Week 6 when Cam flops? Well, it would give us the ammo to trade up for Tua, which to me would be more appealing than starting Cam if Tua’s medicals pan out.
