2024 Free agency...

You don’t know Aiden isn’t the future. It’s too early to know this. It needs to play out.
Yep. Just like Kerry Collins in 2004. And Kerry Collins in 2005. And Aaron Brooks and Andrew Walter in 2006. And Derek Carr for a fucking decade. And and and and and

The Raiders have been waiting and hoping on shitty QBs for 4 decades.

you wouldn't, sure. But I bet they are. Granted he's also a 2nd rounder, so that's sort of more Carr PTSD as generally it'd be more along the lines of a Daniel Jones type of thing.

I don't think anyone wanted to throw Carr away except his extreme haters until early into the second contract when it was apparent he wasn't the one. How they handled him and gave him everything to succeed is ideally how you should proceed with your QB. We just stuck with him three years too long. After Gruden got here, that should have been one of the first people he unloaded and drafted another guy.

So teams either just stick with sunk costs or convince themselves that the guy still has a chance, because in the end you never see teams take 2 1st round QBs in a row barring a change in the org runners.

Imo, why you never see this is because the GM would have to admit they were wrong. As we know, most people, let alone these people in these high profile jobs, can admit that. They see the same shit we can see, but they're opening themselves up to get fired if they miss that bad on a QB and need to reup the next year when the owner comes asking questions.

Your original statement as I understood it was along the lines of it not being prudent to do so. That was the point I was responding to. What teams actually do is a different conversation and, like I said, the likelihood of a team actually deciding a guy can’t play after one season is pretty slim.

Oh, no, I would if I were in the situation, but in the sense of a fan being somewhat realistic, if a team drafts a QB in the 1st, I know he's here at least 2 years.

Aiden absolutely could be the future QB of this team. But it you were the new GM/OC would you put your job on the line for a 4th round rookie with 9 starts? He had some ups and downs in those starts but, you really don’t know his potential. I guess that’s what Minshew is for.

I’m trying to look at this topic objectively on both sides. Draft QB at 13, wait till 2nd or move back into the 1st. Or just let AO'C and Minshew run with it. I personally believe Bo is the 2nd best QB in draft. ( I get it nobody else does) I would absolutely take him at 13. It’s very doubtful the Raiders feel that all 6 QB’s are worth the 13th pick. So would they be okay sticking and picking a QB? Would they be okay risking none of the top 6 getting to them later?

Or if they are willing to ride it out with Minshew and AO'C how can they accumulate future draft capital to make a big move in the following draft? Seems like a huge risk for a team that is actually built to handle a rookie QB that can sit and learn for a good while before taking the stage. Outside of the right side of our OL we are really in a good position for that rookie be drafted early.

I would have no issue provided AO'C is making strides letting him start the year. Have him showcase why he should be a starter (if he can) then trading him the following year to a team that is needing a QB. Or hell if he goes off and becomes Tom Brady look to trade the rookie we have in a few years.

Raiders flip two games from last year, Raiders are in the playoffs. Yes, with O’Connell or Minshew, Raiders would likely be one and done and certainly not SB bound but if 3 1st and 3 2nd won’t get it done, Wash is not serious about trading the pick.

I’m done wasting my time on the trade into top 3 BS it ain’t happening

Andy Dalton started a lot of games in the NFL. I see no reason why O' Connell can't be as good as him. Is that enough to win a Super Bowl with? Probably not in today's NFL. You can't build a bully defense anymore. I think it's too early to write him off.

That’s a bit of cope.

In this era of QB’s the last thing I want is an Andy Dalton. How do fans want to move on from a qb, then go bottom of the barrel on their expectations at the position? :-/ if AO'C is the guy, it’ll show. So far it has not. And I wouldn’t bet my job on him if I was a first time HC.

With that said we are all allowed to pick who we think is the best option. I hope whoever it is, really is.
