2024 Free agency...

The Minshew deal keeps looking better. Only a $8M cap hit in 2024 and we can save at least $6M in cap space if it doesn't work out and we cut him next year. No problems with this deal.

Perfect one year bridge. Good enough to get us to 10 wins if the team is great. Easy enough to cut if he sucks. Doesnt prevent you from drafting a QB. Dont have to pretend he's our franchise QB for 9 years.

I'd like him back for both sentimental and practical - but not at what his current cap hit is. Rotating him with Koonce/Maxx/Wilson is a stocked house of pass rushers. Wilkins in the middle disrupting makes it even scarier.

But the cap/cash investment when we have other needs makes it hard to do.
If he’s cut, and clears, why would it have to be the same cap hit?

He’s still going to command a very large salary even if it’s on a one or two year deal. He’s definitely not going to do the Raiders a solid to come “home” after the way we unceremoniously traded his ass to Chicago then dumped his buddy DC. Only way I see him making it back to the Raiders is via trade.

If he’s cut, he’ll go to a team like Cardinals, Commanders, Titans, maybe Panthers or maybe Eagles.

But think about the NASCAR alignments you could use with that group.
🤤🤤🤤

Golden Tate also slugged the Midget the same year or the year after. He wasn’t well liked in the locker room. Lots of comments about Wilson not being black enough. That’s his teammates not me saying that stuff. So disagree all you want. You’re wrong and the Raiders are better off staying away from Wilson.

Those degenerates from that Super Bowl team aren't a good source. One dude is kicking down his ex-wife's folks' door. One dude is getting DUIs and shit riding on a donut tire in the middle of Vegas. one dude almost got murked by his wife while he was in an Air B&B with his brother tag teaming hoes in the middle of the pandemic and hasn't played since then because the Raven players hated him so much. Then, you have an actual murderer from that secondary doing time who doesn't get as much flack as Russ does. Not to mention that it's always been the rumor that Golden Tate is the one who fucked his first wife, and I could tell you several things about Percy Harvin just from what I know when he was in college. I wouldn't give none of those people my phone number or want to hang out with them after work either. Pretty sure Sherman doesn't have Brady's number or hung out with him and Giselle that one year he was in Tampa. Just look at how Sherman acted all of 2021 on Amazon's coverage shitting on him every chance he got like it was his life's mission but then just got a DUI again. He's obviously a corny guy, but that shit in Seattle seemed to start and end with that he got paid after coming in as a third round pick and started acting like every starting QB in the league acts as an extension of management afterward.

That's a lot of bandwidth just to say he wasn't liked in the locker room lol.

I think Chase Young might be a cost appropriate option along those lines. He started rounding into shape towards the end of last season and could actually make for nice insurance/rotational option with Koonce. Who knows what type of money he's looking for though. Fans and players usually aren't on the same page there.

Well, there was a lot going on with that Seattle team. How Pete kept that band of crazies together for a couple of Super Bowl runs is one of the great coaching jobs of all time in the modern era. The 70s Raiders didn't have dudes on nine figure contracts like they did.

And he should at least be fun to watch. He's not a statue and is a slippery dude who is always trying to keep the play alive. Better that than Turtle Boy and at 1/3 of the price.

I seem to recall reading on a couple occasions he lacks the illness of intent to be a Raider.

He’s not playing here for the money just paid to Huff, who did not start a game last year, to rotate with Koonce and Wilson. And we could not even afford that. lol

Could be. I didn't pay close attention to him and he's lingering on the market for a reason.

Just musing on potentially cost-effective ways to add depth to the DL.

He's a guy to rotate behind Koonce and Maxx in my world.
