Gruden wants "junkyard dogs." He's not talking about choir boys here. He wants guys who eat, sleep, drink, breathe football. Brown does that. I guess Burfict does that. And I don't think anyone can question whether Incognito does that. He wants guys who will practice hard and play hard.

Incognito fits in perfectly with what Gruden is looking for in terms of character.

I personally disagree with bringing Incognito in (as I disagreed with Brown and Burfict when they was acquired) because there is too much extracurricular stuff around these guys. Incognito seems to be a shit human being and a volatile, unstable person. I don't think that fits in with the NFL in 2019. Maybe that was fine 45 years ago, but this isn't Al's NFL anymore.

Yep. They work hard on the practice field, they work hard in the weight room, they work hard in the film room, and they work hard on game day.

And that's apparently true for Ferrell, Abram, Jacobs, and other draft picks.
 
For $100m I expect Gruden to be able to handle this locker room like the bastard son off Phil Jackson and Bill Belichick. If Richie can play zero fucks given. I never would have pegged his as a Cable type though.

I pretty much feel the same 6 years later. Guy is just whacked out of his mind. I don't even think it's CTE, he's just been fucked up since birth. I'm like 90% sure this bites us in the ass. I guess a positive is he's cheap and will be on a short leash.

Last year was the most boring team I've ever watched though so I have faith this shit show full of characters will at least be entertaining.

I'm just not gonna buy the Raider homer BS about character. Richie is on probabation for smashing up a funeral home, he's had 3 mandatory psych evaluations while in the NFL, he's had domestic violence accusations in 2012, @Crow incidents, the Martin bulling, multiple fines and suspensions, calling his asian equipment trainer a chink and getting suspended. He literally kept a notepad on the Dolphins and tracked all his fines and wore it like a badge of honor.

He's a piece of shit human, but maybe he can give us one year before it blows up.

I don’t think he’s important enough to bite us in the ass. He acts up and he’s gone. I do find our interest a little odd simply due to him being out of the game. Seems like it would be out of sight, out of mind for an aging problematic guard. Kinda of makes you wonder if @hawaiianboy is on to something about having a locker room full of mentally weak players and Jon is actively trying to spice that up a bit. Maybe he’s just here to give Kolton the Jonathan Martin treatment.
 
I’m guessing he’s on a short leash here and no guarantee he even makes the team but I do agree that the off field shit is not worth what he’s going to bring to the team.

Agreed. This is where Gruden’s 10-year deal, SB ring, big personality, and hiring of the GM (who answers to him) comes in real handy.

Richie had his best 3 years in Buff, both as a player and teammate. As a person, he’s still whacked. Bi-polar can inflame shit quickly.

Gruden clearly said, “Fuck You Bullshit to zone blocking.” Cable’s been given Brown, Richie and a chance to keep his job. Hopefully Cable can get Miller, Richie, Hudson, Jackson and Brown playing at a high level.
