List of FA'S in 2019

If Seattle had a first rounder offered the trade would be done by now. They don't. Frank has domestic violence issues. Frank is either playing one year on the tag or getting a giant contract. I'm not giving 35 or more for either scenario

it really comes down to the contract

#35 and and a contract and it's a done fucking deal.

However, I think Mayock really values picks more than most (go figure), and the value associated with those contracts, so I will not be surprised to see us trade back from either late 1st rounder for more 2nd/3rd round picks

Are there rumors involving the raiders showing interest?

That arrest was 5 years ago.

Clark is also only 25. It'd be interesting for sure. Chase Winovich is 24 and probably our most realistic pass rushing target at 27 or 35. The contract is the only thing that should give anyone pause. Is he going to hold out for Demarcus Lawrence money? I don't pay him that much coin. He's probably worth slightly more than Dee Ford's deal.

KC got a ‘20 2nd pick from SF and SF paid Ford $17M per year. Ford, 13 sacks, 87.7 PFF grade, overall, had a better year last year than Clark, 13 sacks, 77.4 PFF grade, but over their careers, Clark (35 sacks in 4 years) has been better than Ford (30.5 sacks in 5 years).

I think Clark jumps Von Miller ($19.08), Flowers ($18M) and Ford ($17M), but does not get paid as much as Lawrence ($21M). Lawrence (34 sacks in 4 years, 88.1 ‘18 PFF grade) is the best comp to Clark as a pass rusher. Clark is a year younger, and both have histories, he’s just not as good as an overall player as Lawrence.

Seattle gets somewhere between what Chi gave up for Mack, a future HOF DE, and what SF gave up for Ford, a one year wonder. #35 and I’m done. And if I didn’t have to pay Clark $20M, I’d likely blink and do #27 too.

Chandler Jones is likely the best comp for Clark, both in terms of a pass rusher and overall player. Jones had 13 sacks last year, a 73.1 PFF grade, and 77 sacks in 7 years.

Two years ago, Jones got $16.5M or $2.5M less than Von Miller, who had set the bar. Mack then raised the bar to $23.5M. And Lawrence got paid $2.5M less than Mack for similar pass rush production but being a lesser overall player.

Ariz traded a 2nd round pick (#61) plus Jonathan Cooper (former 1st round bust) to NE for Jones. Until Mack, that was the standard for a franchise DE.

Seattle wants a 1st in a deal for Clack. #35 is close and more than what Ariz gave up for Jones. Good arguments for and against, depending on how much Clark gets paid.

The reasons why trading for Frank Clark...

He wouldn't cost us two first round picks a franchise tag player usually commands.

Next year we would compete with 31 other teams, where this year we are competing with seven.

Clark is a proven commodity, the ones we select in the draft we "hope" become like him.

Allows us to bundle picks easier next year to move up in the draft.

Mayock may have mentioned what he did because of Antonio Brown's age (Frank is going to give us five years minimum), but he is smart enough to know that getting the rights to offer a player like Clark a contract is harder than actually paying him. These players don't come free that easily....unless you are the Raiders.
Let’s not overlook the fact that he played lights out with Ken Norton Jr. running the defense. That in itself should be worth the fourth pick.

Most likely. Plus they already doled out two pretty big contracts this offseason and the whole domestic violence thing, even though that was a while ago.

Only team that has some genuine interest in him seems to be the Jets.

I’d do 27 for Clark and pick 84. We’d save a few dollars holding the 2

Love that Mayock is fucking with the Giants about Haskins.

Assuming Murray at 1 and Bosa at 2, Jets look to trade back to 6, the Haskins thing locks us the big Q or Josh Allen.

I’ll take Q and Clark on a 3 year deal and Jacobs at 24...

Yes, that concerns me. Also, Gruden’s ego might not want the Mack/Clark comparisons. And Clark doesn’t set an edge like Frostee!

Q and Clark front lining the D: :koolaid:

Clark is exactly what you’d hope for in a second round pick. The contract is tough but he’s young so it shouldn’t become an anchor for a while.

Yeah Clark is a fuckin monster.

I’d easily go with 24/27 to ensure it happens.

You sit at 24 hoping to draft a fuckin Ferrell or Ferguson who ends up as good as Frank Clark.

Just trade for him.

Rumors are he will be dealt before the draft. He’s not much older than the guys coming out. It’s a no brainer for me. Dangle that #35 in front of them and you can still get a guy like Ferrell to anchor the opposite side.

We should also kick the tires on JPP. TB going to a 3-4 and have seen a mock where we swap our 3 for their four. Dude had 12.5 sacks last year.
