OK so what is your plan RE: QB

It's hard to identify a target until it shakes out... I would go with a Vet dual threat stop gap and try to identify some developmental dual threat qb and one of Kizer/Peterman I guess.

He was just the first dual threat guy I saw that looked like he wouldn't be a super high pick.

Assuming we draft a rookie, he's coming in to a decent position. The most important support for a rookie QB is o-line and this one is solid. Add in two good TEs, a stud RB and a safety slot (Renfrow) and you're in decent shape. And yes, the WR corp will get better.

If you do go the dual threat route, which I agree with, you have to be 2-3 deep IMO with that style.
Baltimore gonna find out. Just a matter of time before Jackson gets hurt. He doesn’t do smart things. It’s working for now but contrast him to Wilson who rarely takes a solid hit.

I think Teddy sees the end for Brees and would prefer to stay in NO. Come to the Raiders? Heh. Why?

I’m sure he’d like to get paid now. They probably have to make a decision because Brees is going to cost a lot, can’t pay both if you offer Teddy decent QB money.

The very first thing is to see if we can get for Carr. I’d move him for just about anything since the other option is cutting him outright. We still eat the rest of his signing bonus either way. The problem with trading him is that someone is still taking on a $20m salary with no renegotiating leverage. Either way, that’s done.

In terms of replacements... I only bring a guy in if I legitimately believe he can be our starting QB. Otherwise I’m rolling with Glennon/Peterman for a year and drafting a guy. No reason to set the rest of the team back by having to teach a guy the offense when we have no plans on keeping him.

What I think will happen is that Carr stays and we draft a guy to compete. Logically it makes the most sense assuming Carr still has support in the locker room. It’s not my preferred option from a fan/spectator standpoint but I think it makes sense from Jon’s perspective in terms of offensive continuity.

And unfoywhat will most likely happen. The other thing to consider is Gruden’s playbook is pretty complicated and tough for a new guy to learn that in one year. I’m all for using one of our high picks to bring in a young guy to compete.

If I'm in charge? I trade Carr and then draft a QB in the 4th. Let Kizer, Peterman, and 4th Rd pick battle for the worst record in football and grab the best QB in the 2021 draft. Don't even fuck around with a Fitzmagic/Mariota/Foles type of cast-off. Go out and earn the #1 pick like a grown man.

Speaking of Foles. LOL@that guy.

Fucker gets paid millions and he’s either hurt or terrible.

If Derek and Perterman are in training camp next year it means the Raiders are more interested in church camp then they are winning football games. To be determined....

Good to see you guys looking at the big picture and the future though.

I get this idea and deep down I LOVE it.

I recommended it like a year ago haha.

BUT, I don't think we can embrace a Nathan Peterman full tank year one in Vegas. People would lose their shit hahaha.

I don’t like any plan that has Carr on the team in Las Vegas.

Admit your mistake, take your lumps and move the fuck on. That is what strong organizations do. Don’t take a chance on losing the few good players you have because they believe the organization doesn’t get it.

You can trade down to 32 and take a flier on a QB without "blowing up your team"

I would worry waiting until round 4 is a waste of time. Maybe you get a Minshew one out of ten times. It still sends the message Carr is the guy (We took Connor Cook in round four and Carr didnt give a fuck)

The 32nd pick gets 5.4 million dollars total. Just trade down and take one there.

If he sucks so fuckin what. We dicked around for 6 years anyways already. Cheap backup.

I think we could get away with it if we had some hot QBOTF prospect waiting in the wings. Like I said yesterday, you’re either selling competitiveness or hope. With Peterman we’d spend the entire year here planning our draft class and what pieces we need to go with our young QB.

Yeah it could be I've completely ran out of patience with waiting any longer.

I remember we spoke about this once before and we didnt like the idea of pre-tanking a year in advance. No guarantee we don't accidentally win 6 games again and miss out on Lawrence and Fields.

No I meant take a guy now not next year. Fans will be fine with Peterman for half a season or so as long as there is a savior waiting in the wings.
