Gawd dammit I hate this time of year, being a diehard sportsfan.

No football, draft is over. Free agency is over, camp isnt going on. NFLN is all reruns.

No hockey, although free agency started today.

No basketball (Not that I care much. The league is trash now, IMO). The draft was fun. For an hour or so.

MLB has about 187 games left before the playoffs, so I cant get too excited.

This part of the year drives me nuts as a fan who likes watching sports...

/Rant

All star baseball game and homerun contest is pretty nice. But thats about it. Maybe Kobe or Garnett will be traded. That would be interesting.

Man I couldn't handle watching it... Steven A Smith with the occasional Stuart Scott and Dick Vitale mixed in? Bleah... it was torture....

Outside of football season, we're a get outside-and-do-something family so it's not that bad for me... It wouldn't hurt if some of you pasty white mofos gave that barcalounger a break and got out in the sun every once in awhile (The sun BTW, is that bright thing Bones gets to see 3-4 times a year between rain blasts)...

We taught our little girl learned how to surf this summer... She can't paddle and catch the wave on her own yet, but she can stand up on her own and shred once I give her a push onto the wave...

Must not own a home. You'll always have shit to do. Nothing funner than cleaning mud duabers off the house.

Flying out to Cali on Friday to take little Zach to meet his Grandmother, then flying to Tennessee to meet his other side of the family.

Gonna get a cabin on lake Douglas for a week. No T.V, No computer, no fuckin cell phones..... just a radio, fishing pole and a cooler of beer, barefoot, overalls, Grizzly Adams type thingy, ya know.. the whole "one with nature"....

Nothing better than catching your own food and scaling it and frying that bad boy up on a grill

Been wanting to read Tom Flores Stories from the Sidelines.. Might wanna check that out while were up there.

I'm getting out of this fuckin high tech, pollution, fast pace, drive thru yogurt lazy bastard type surroundings for week

Dont wanna see another human being for 100 miles

I hear ya. Went out on a friend's brand new river boat on Saturday hoping to catch some shad, and got zilch. Bastards released a bunch of water out of the dam and cooled the temp down to 58 degrees. Not exactly shad-fishing temps. But salmon season opens in 2 weeks. Hopefully that will be good.

The weather here has been unseasonably tolerable so far. But that's all about to change when it's supposed to 107 here on Wednesday. Great, the one day I have off (in the middle of the week, no less) and it's going to be too fucking hot to drink beer. Ok, wait... I'll step back from the ledge... almost too hot to drink beer.

A little more than 3 weeks and we have training camp. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I'll be in Berkeley chartering the "Happy Hooker" for halibut the same day the Raiders open camp (7/27). If going out on a boat called the Happy Hooker isn't a good omen, I don't know what is. Viking fans, eat your heart out!

Well summer is in high gear here in Florida, hot as a fugger. Stepped out yesterday to get the paper, it was like walking into a steam bath. Doing yard work is a real bitch in this heat. Got into this kayak thingy which is actually quite relaxing and can get you into some really nice fishing holes (snook, redfish, speckled trout) where boats can't get in. Too hot right now to even play golf. There's a reason greens fees are so damn cheap here in the summer. The good part is that my little girl is here visitng me for the summer:D

Cheer up, guys. The AFL playoffs are in full swing.

Yeah, I know. Sucks, don't it?

I don't know about the Tennessee part, but gawddamn that sounds good Nips... I'm jealous... It reminds me of times gone by spent with Gramps growing up... Used to be this special out of the way remote spot we used to go to... (http://www.video-hawaii.com/dreams/free/black.sand.html) ...Nothing to do but cast some lines and go swimming in this hot water springs... Saw my first nekkid girl there... of course she was a hippy with hair in the pits but that didn't matter much... The place is gone now and the world is slowing going to shit :( ...

BTW, drive thru yogurt?...

Yeah, it's a place called Slingers. It's a Florida thing, don't ask.

Wouldnt know anything about the whole "alternative lifestyle" Not thats theres anything wrong with it of course...

But yeah, I saw a fuckin drive thru yogurt stand

Is'nt that kinda defeat the whole purpose of getting yogurt? ya know.. health etc?. but yet your to damn lazy to get out of your car an walk 15 yards and get it yourself?..

Everythings all fucked up nowadays

Phone solictors, I aint kiddin' ya when I tell you how much junk mail a day i get. So much it fills up my whole mailbox, cell phone calls, computers, dirt t.v, faxes everyone of them can kiss my ass for a week....

Little fishing, hiking and fuck it, I'll burn a candle and read a book for a couple of hours at night...

* Kudos to the evil genius at WTBS who decided to forego the usual Diehard/Lethal Weapon showing in favor of the back to back showings of After the Sunset and Swordfish this past weekend... IMO, the two movies featured the hottest female characters in just about any movie I have ever seen... Salma Hayek as Lola and Halle Berry as Ginger...

Salma must have had 5 or 6 or so bikini/underwear scenes and she's at her absolute physical peak when this was filmed... I don't know if there is anything sexier than Salma in overalls and a bikini top building a deck... Words cannot do justice as to just how smokin' Salma was here... To top it off, it is a very enjoyable movie with Pierce Bronson and Woody Harleson...

No need to go into Swordfish as everyone is aware of the perfection that was Halle swinging a golf club...

It's just too bad that nobody thought to put these two together in a remake of Bound... The odd thing is by some freak chance, that lucky bastid Don Cheadle appears in both these movies...

Throw in hb fav Vanessa Marcil in Las Vegas on Friday night and even a surprisingly sexy bikini clad Lisa Rinna on Entourage on Sunday and the late 30's-early 40's age group kicked some major ass...

Maybe Kobe or Garnett will be traded. That would be interesting.

Kobe could pee on Jerry Buss' face and they still wouldn't trade him. Plus he's better off opting out in 2 years if he really does want to win a title. Since his wife and kid aren't about to leave Newport Coast, he'll be a Clipper in 2 years... and watch how fast LA forgets the Lakers.

McHale really fcked himself by not dumping Garnett on draft night. Now he has absolutely no leverage. Add to that the fact that McHale is a career Celtic (meaning he's a douche bag)... this is going to end up a lose-lose situation for everybody involved. Man I hate the Celtics.

mmmmm Salma, Halle and Vanessa ... there is a trifecta for the ages.

Funny timing, our satellite was out Friday night due to weather and we watched Swordfish on DVD which we hadn't seen in over 3 years.

Two of the yummiest of all time, and they don't mind getting naked for the camera. Bless their hearts.

I was thrilled that Golden State dumped Richardson's huge salry for young PF Brandan Wright. I loved J-Rich but we got the good end of that deal. We also cleared enough room to get into the K.Garnett sweepstakes. Baron Davis and Kobe/Garnett would be sick nasty. BUt hopefully the warriors stand pat because they have buil;t one of the best young teams in the NBA. Them and the Bulls.

PG- Baron Davis / need a FA back-up
SG- Monte Ellis / Marco Bellinelli
SF- Steven Jackson/ Matt Barnes (FA)
PF - Al Harrington / Brandan Wright
C - Beindrins / O'Bryant

Im guessing we keep Barnes and let Pietrus walk.

That is a young talented team. We have all ther pieces in place for the future and the present. I would be down to trade away some of this young talent for Kobe or Garnett. They are both superduper stars and could make this team championship calibur. Making the playoffs and beating Dallas last year should have everyone on track again this year.

Did anyone hear about Mark Cuban taking Nellie to court for " Using inside info to beat Dallas" hopefully hte judge punks Cuban for such a BS lawsuit. Cuban is such an assswipe. Your money cant buy you a trophy asshole. You never should have gotten rid of Nash and Nellie.

I like what the Warriors have done with that roster. I think you're right about them standing pat and being better off for it... but I hear Mullen is going to do whatever he can to get KG.

As for Dallas, they remind me of those Sacramento Kings teams that would kill it in the regular season, but then go gun-shy in the playoffs. Nowitzki has as much of a killer instinct as CWebb. A lot of people (including myself) say the same thing about KG. He'll make you a better regular season team, but you're going to need somebody else to count on in the playoffs.

No doubt GS has put together a pretty competitive product and finally breathed some life after being on life support for so many years. While it's fun to watch the run and gun of a Don Nelson team, I'm not sure running 4 guards out there is going to win you a championship. That was painfully evident in the Utah series were the Warriors were destroyed on the boards and had no one inside that could handle Boozer.

I'm not holding out much hope for Kobe but KG could make us a pretty serious contender next season. We're not going to get to the Western Conference finals without a legit big guy.

I agree. We need to run and gun but also be able to play defense. We can blow teams out with our style of play, but some games are going to be close late in the fourth quarter. If we dont have a big man to defend and rebound we will be in trouble. I really think Biedrins, Wright and O'Bryant were all aquired to accomplish this. They are all young and a bit undersized (weight wise) but all have rebounding and low post ability.
Tim Duncan is so special because there arent many guys who can control the middle like him. BUT the suns would have beaten them in my opinion had Stern not suspended Diaw and A.Stoudamire for game 5. So i think that the suns got robbed of a finals trophy. In turn the Warriors beat the western conferance champion Mavs with an up-tempo style of play. I believe you can win a championship with this kind of play but it requires and athletic bigman or two who can rebound and defend late in the fourth quarter. There were times when Biedrins flashed some toughness and ability last year. I really think he is going to be even better next season. Brandan Wright might need a year to contribute but hopefully last years first round bigman Patrick O'Bryant will be a factor in the low post. If he makes the leap from year 1 to 2 like Biedrins did. If that happens great. But i would trade both of them for KG. I wouldnt trade Biedrins, Ellis, or B.Davis though. Anyone else I would consider in a KG deal.
sorry for the long post.
