Who should the raiders look to draft at QB?

Who should we get? (Explain how we get in comments if it needs trading up)

What’s too much to give up for a Heisman trophy winner (Daniels) that has all the appearance of being a franchise QB where our AFC West opponents would now have to start worrying about us and our QB like we do with Mahomes and Herbert?

This is what Denver gave up for a 33 year old Russell Wilson.

- Two 1sts
- Two 2nds
- One 5th
- Shelby Harris
- Drew Lock (ho-hum)
- Noah Fant - who was a 1st round pick, made All Rookie team and the year he was traded caught 68 passes and 4 tds.

That trade obviously blew up in the Donkeys face. But RW was already ever so slightly on the decline. Not so for Daniels.

So what would it take in assets to get Washington to make a trade with us…and more importantly, would it be worth it?
Isn’t the real question, how much more would you pay for Daniels over Penix?

Howdy doody looking mofo. I predict he will bust out. I comp him as Zach Wilson

Just feels like Drew Lock or something to me. Has the physical traits, but I can't see it happening in the NFL. All the pundits making excuses for why Harbaugh didn't throw more with him forget that he coached Andrew Luck and that he absolutely threw the ball with him. So much so that he was seen as the best prospect since Elway.

JJ is going to take a few years to develop. Dude is barely 21 years old (same w Maye) & by the time he's 24 years old like Penix, Daniels & Nix he will have 3 seasons in the NFL. I'm really hoping he doesnt end up a Bronco w Payton. Then it will really get fucked around here when he is busting our ass post everyone calling him Drew Lock etc.

That’s a double edge sword . . . if it takes him 3 years to develop. He’ll have 1 year and an option left. I assume teams think JJ (and Maye) are 1 year away. Penix’s age, having to learn an NFL O plus how to deal with NFL pressure plus medicals are why he falls . . . to us hopefully.

Having AO'C and Minshew actually make a pick like JJ/MayeB a whole lot more attractive to me. We could still compete with either AO'C/Minshew but, probably fall short of playoffs or a one and out situation. If AO'C were to be the starter and he performed at a solid game manager level we would then have an opportunity to trade him.

JJ has been operating in a pro system and beat many of the pro ready QB's and their teams otw. I think his passing needs to develop more w more reps to become a star NFL QB and not just a game manager. The Broncos roster is ass. So they arent going to compete this year or likley next either. So that would give JJ a couple years to learn and 3 years to compete and get into the chase for a ring. The Broncos would have time and money in this scenario. Two years to get the roster right w a rookie QB contract. 2/3 to compete before paying him bank. I think he fits them perfectly and it scared me. Hope that doesnt happen.

I think JJ could take stacked team into the playoffs this year (much like Stroud, whose elite team he defeated in college w a great game) I think there is a great chance 5 QB's go before pick #13 and we are looking at Nix/Rattler or bust.

I dont love Nix, but id consider him at #13 bc having no QB is failing before the season starts. Gotta keep taking shots.

PS JJ would start week 3 for Las Vegas dont sleep.

I’d try my hardest to sit him for a year and then ease him in (protect him with running and not asking him to do too much). Take that route and I bet you end up with a stud.

We need to sit whoever we get on some Jon Kitna/Carson Palmer shit. Let the guy learn in the classroom his rookie year unless you want to play him in December if we are eliminated or have locked up a playoff spot.

Denver isn't a stacked team though. Did Harbaugh throw with him or not? The fact is there is nothing on tape that you draft him that high for. If he fell to us, I would do it if no one else was left, but hardly losing sleep over where he goes. Sean Payton doesn't have three years with that disaster FA season and the Wilson debacle, so whoever his next coach is would be taking over with a QB he didn't draft in a couple of years.

Any QB still developing in year three is getting replaced by the next regime because Payton will already have been fired by then, especially considering that he's supposed to be a QB guru. This is exactly why he's a reach as a first rounder if you think he needs that much development.

JJ McCarthy vs Alabama

3 passing TD's
0 interceptions

5 big passing plays to get a huge win and retire Nick Saban. Thats a huge performance vs a NFL caliber defense with Dallas Turner, Terrion Arnold, Kool Aid etc.

How did this happen if he can't throw? How did he win a Natty with teams knowing "he cant throw"?

His throwing numbers on 3rd down are better than any QB in this class. The numbers are out there.

It’s going to be interesting. NYG, Vikings, Denver and us…plus Boston could easily trade back a few picks…

Bama's defense was not that great, hasn't been for a few years. Fact is that we've seen Harbaugh with a guy he trusted, which led to him being the most heralded prospect since Elway. That's why it's just strange for people to act like this is not the same coach. He had better overall players at Michigan, and he used McCarthy as a game manager. Like I said, I'd take him if he fell to us because he has physical traits that can work in the league, but cut the shit with he's some stud from his tape. You yourself said dude will need three years to develop, lol.

He's 21. Yes he needs to develop more.

Harbaugh ideally wants to run the ball and play defense. Thats how you beat Ohio State. You dont try and throw the ball around vs teams like that. Michigan was built to destory Ohio State and everyone else they faced by clock control. Harbaugh wants to run the ball and play defense.

So "Alabama had a bad defense" is your answer when he does good? I show you passing stats vs and playoff team and you say... oh they suck. All while they have tons and tons of talent and one loss on the season? No excuses for Alabama lol. Their QB sucked and thats why they lost. He couldnt throw the ball like JJ did. Bama had the QB who couldnt get it done. That was the difference.

Here's a video of Josh Norris and Hayden Wick ranking JJ 3rd overall. Over Daniels & MH Jr. etc People act like the very best draft guys don't love this prospect. Its not just Michigan fans.

"3 and 5 plus situations, I would argue JJ McCarthy film is the best of all these prospects" - Josh Norris

He says that he runs and pro offense, makes all the pro throws and works the middle of the field where NFL QB's thrive. etc

Did Maye weather the negative pre-draft storm? He seemed to bear the brunt of it (with Nix a distant 2nd). JJ early and Penix late seemed to become media darlings.

That being said, he's still always been projected to go top five.
