Who should the raiders look to draft at QB?

Who should we get? (Explain how we get in comments if it needs trading up)

Seems to me OT at #13 makes sense only if AP/Telescope are not putting all their eggs into the Penix Day 2 or trade up basket. Too many QB needed teams to bank on that, which tells me Rattler at #44 is a back-up plan if we draft an OT at #13.

I think if you like him enough to trade back up into the 1st to get him then you probably like him enough to make sure you get him and take him at 13.

Off topic but…. Watching Godzilla yesterday it occurred to me that this generation is just reliving my youth in high definition and with CGI.

All the same movies, just remade, all the same music, just with auto tune, all the same everything. What’s next a Gilligan’s Island remake?

as long as they cast Ginger and Mary Anne well I'm in...

Guy rolled up in one next to me at a light. It absolutely has no aesthetics or redeeming qualities that you would expect in a $100,000 vehicle.
The one thing you can say is they really stand out... just not in a good way for my taste.

They look like something from 1980s robot animation, like a Go Bot or some other knockoff Transformer.

But be smart! ;)

Fuck. No.

There's a good chance Penix is the best QB in this draft.

You don't fucking roll the dice and HOPE all of the other 19 QB needy teams pass on Penix and pass on the opportunity to trade up for him.

Don't overcomplicate this. If Penix is on the board at #13. Take him.

Then dive into the OT pool at #44 or trade up for your OT if you're scared.

Franchise QBs are a scarce commodity. Solid OL are not. Franchise QBs change the course of a franchise. Even the best OTs do not. Prioritize the scarce and useful commodity over the abundant and supporting role.

Absolutely agree.

If “hope” is a strategy, then you don’t have a strategy

Well, they are both scarce commodities but QBs are more scarce. On top of that we already have a franchise LT so there's not reason to shit our pants there. Get the QB and if it make sense move up again if there is a good OL target you really want.

This is overly simplistic on draft strategy.

We all get the meaning of “value” when picking players. Yet, a GM also has to assess:

-drop off in terms of value for a specific player and the next ranked player
-the level of risk of another team picking the player after you pass on him
- incorporate the importance of the QB position

I’d be okay with that even though his major injury history scares the shit out of me.
There's really nothing to be scared about. Giving up a shit ton of assets and mortgaging the future to move up and nab a guy can be scary. Taking Penix at 13 is a no brainer, a walk in the park.

Stop with the convoluted plans to draft an OT or CB at 13 and then moving up to hopefully get Penix later. Don't fuck around. Does it matter that much if we draft Penix at 13 or at 25 ? GTFOOH with that bullshit.

Oh, and if Penix sucks or his arm falls off, we just take another swing in a year or two. Not the end of the world.

I'm scared of doing nothing. Get off the fucking dime already and don't overthink this.
