@SportsInfo_SIS did a study that on-target rate on intermediate throws translates to the NFL more than short throws and a lot more than deep throws. Here are throws between 5-20 air yards:

2024: Dart (83%), Shedeur (79%), Ward (74%), Shough (70%), Milroe (70%)

2023: Nix (78%), Jayden (76%), J.J. (70%), Caleb (70%), Penix (66%), Maye (60%)

Milroe… yum.

Somehow someway Milroe will be drafted in the first round. Teams just can’t help themselves when it comes to quarterbacks with upside.
It feels weird to say but I hope he actually goes to a team like the Raiders where he can sit for two years with a good OC to learn from.

fifth year options don't matter much anymore especially for QBs. If the player is good, a new deal is done before then anyway. If he's borderline the cost is usually too much to bother with.

I thought they're tacking onto what the fifth year option is though, so it doesn't hit the cap until after that. That's why they use that new money terminology.

I’d rather take Cam Miller in the 5th round than Quinn Ewers in the 3rd. And I think that’s too high for both of them.

Absolutely, Ewers is probably the worst in the whole class I'd be unhappy with him in the 7th. AO'C has more potential.

But...even after the extension, doesn't the 5th year contact amount still mean one more year of 'Rookie' money?

Extensions are almost always done, QB wise, after the 3rd season, making the 5th moot. The QBs who don't get extensions usually aren't good. Pickett for example would be due 22MM if he were to have his picked up. That's the absolute lowest tier. So there's no real savings. The low salary 4th year is often replaced. If a QB is temp optioned so to speak while working out the extension, that usually gets torn up too as just part of a new salary structure. It's for all intent and purposes a brand new contract, not a pure extension.

No they get a significant bump if they have Pro Bowls it can be a slight discount but a decorated QB can still make 20-30 million. Justin Fields made 25 million

Sources: Syracuse QB Kyle McCord is visiting the #Steelers today and the #Giants tomorrow.

McCord, who led the nation in passing last season, has acquitted himself well throughout the draft process with a series of good interviews and impressive on-the-board work.

Several teams I’ve spoken with say he's one of the more undervalued players in the entire draft — highlighting his prototypical NFL size, winning pedigree (see 21-point comeback vs Miami) and capacity to read coverage.

So if anyone thinks that the NFL is fixing games for ratings you should absolutely love Sanders and be absolutely pounding the table for him 100% of the time.
