Am i the only one who thinks we should keep Gibson at the minimum price? I wont be suprised if i am. I just think he is a decent back-up who could be used in some packages.
I'd rather have Cooper's ST leadership. I don't think we need them both. I'd like an athletic FS backup. How many SS that can't cover do we need?
We're due for another Keyon Nash-type pick, I'd bet.
When is the bonus due for Lamont?
I didn't know about this huge bonus. That's a big chunk of cap.
What's the signing bonus acceleration hit if we dump him? Does it offset?
Hmmm... my understanding was we'd take a hit of about $2m if we cut Jordan this year. This is largely due to the roster bonuses that would be accelerated if he were cut. If Oakland cut him next year, then they would be in line for a decent savings.
I believe it triggers either March 15th or March 31st. Don't quote me on that though.
Corkran's saying it's not a lock that the roster bonus gets picked up per The SportingNews.

This is a pretty in-depth interview on 2/15 with Al Lackner from Ask The Commish.com about the Raiders Salary Cap for 2007. The interviewers are kinda doofs, but he talks about it for over 20 minutes. Lackner says they are 7 million under now, but....
Biggest hits to their cap - All due in March -
11.75 million Moss (cap hit of 4 million to cut or trade)
7 million Jordon (cutting him still costs 5 million)
6.75 Million Brooks (release costs less than 1 million)
6.53 Curry (incl. 5 million option bonus that can be converted to a signing bonus (pro-rated over the length of the contract) if they can sign him long term)
5.85 Sapp
4.85 Burgess
They also go into the potential salary of the #1 draft pick... (estimated at about 60 million for a 6 year deal for Jamarcus Russell with up to 30 million guaranteed) but the 2007 hit would be between 3-5 million.
