When will the Raiders be good again?

I'll say we're in the playoff hunt in 2009. :o

Next year if we do things right.

When we can start winning games in our division again.

Here are 3 possible scenarios:

1) Davis sells out to somebody like Ellison who can bring in enough money and credibility to put a front office in place and actually use the draft to build a team as opposed to collecting trophies. I could see us being competitive by the end of next year.

2) Rob Ryan gets the nod as HC and is able to convince Davis to return to the spread / WCO that Ryan saw Belichick build in New England... kind of that same offense that shattered every Raider record in 2002. We could be competitive again by '08.

3) (my personal favorite) The Bucs lose out --> Gruden and Bruce Allen get shit canned --> Davis personally apologizes to me for running Gruden and Allen out of town... and brings back both Gruden and Allen --> We win 3 Super Bowls in the next 5 years... and yes, I do admit that hallucinations like this are pretty much the only reason I follow professional football right now.

Funny, at the end of last season, I was pretty optimistic that things were going to turn around pretty quick... but this year has been so FUBAR that I can't see a light at the end of the tunnel...

The head coach fighting with players...

Head coach fighting with the GM...

Both the running and passing games turning to complete shit in a year...

Reports of Al having to sell 31% just to generate working capital...

Short of a sugar daddy like Larry Ellison surprisingly coming into play, we're going to have to catch lightning in the bottle just to be considered an average team...

Bah Humbug! Hey, are there any provisions in the NFL by-laws that teams can be retracted/relegated like in English Football? And to think, Lombardi will be on his way out and Shell will have even more say so at the end of the season.

depends on the possibilty of a coaching change, and a new direction as a team

but as long as al is running the ship, i wouldnt be very optimistic

my guess is that we are a playoff team in 2009

I had to bump a thread:

*Right now, our defence is ranked 4th overall, giving up 285 yards a game.

*By far the best pass defense, everyone knows that. (Top ten in ypg, INT's and TD's given up)

As far as the run defence: They rank 14th in the league at yards given up per carry at a very respectable 4.0, and have more attempts than ANY team against them in the league. Teams have rushed an absolutely absurd 467 times in 14 games. 33 rushes a game...

They also have the worst T.O.P in the league, and we are a minus 16 in the turnover department, all the while having the statistically worst offensive team in almost every category...

I am not a homer by any stretch and this has been a year where I've ben more pessimistic than usual, but this defense is AWESOME.
