What if Petrino had said yes?

I'm a Big East guy, it's nice to see Rutgers building a nice program. They have some nice players, particularly those two RB's

The best FA pickup this team could make would be an OC

I dig caveman

I think Art Shell is the perfect PR, Al Davis homie if you will

We need to go get a young innovated badass college OC to come in, perhaps Lloyd Carr's boy.. Someone

Let Art do the press confernce and leave the defense to Caveman and bring in a OC from a winning college program and appoint him OC with the ability to unseat Art Shell if he can turn this offense around...

Speaking of coaches

Whattya think of Pete Carrol?

useless to us if he doesnt get full control, which is what he wants. its like the whisenhunt scenario. candidate wants full control, and we say fuck off. also if you were talking about OC, he aint taking no OC gigs.

Carrol is a god amongst the college ranks, why come back to the NFL and be a schmuck again?

Man was I surprised this morning to find our the "R" came back and beat Petrino and Company. Good for them. Now all day the talking heads are worried what will happen if Rutgers runs the table. Hope they do.

I don't see him coming back to the NFL unless he is paid really really well like Saban was.

I have a hunch somebody is going to get paid a lot of money to be our OC next year and they'll owe it all to Tom Walsh.

If I'm not mistaken, Carroll makes at least 3 mill per plus he has full control of one of the best programs in 1-A Football.. If he does come back, it would have to be an ideal situation and a deal that will most likely make him one of the highest paid coaches in the NFL. Ain't happening in Oaktown. I'd be happy to get Steve Sarkissian back.

I wouldn't hold my breath. We'll probably get someone off the re-tread pile like Jim fassel or something.

We'll see. Next year is going to be the 1st time Al won't be able to max out the payroll. We just won't be able to land enough good players (if any) to spend $109 million next year. So I think he'll take that money that he normally would have spent on a player(s) and instead spend it on a coach.

This is where a team like Seattle or Washington has a big advantage over the Raiders. They can pay their coaches more. Holmgren makes $7 million. Even if Al wanted to he couldn't afford that kind of cheese for a HC and he's never gonna pay an assistant top dollar. He just never has. I don't say it's right but it is what it is. Until the Raiders have a decent facility to attract more revenue they are kinda screwed. Paul Allen and Dan Synder just have a lot of cash and aren't afraid to spend it.

Well AL has no problem overspending on FA's, I can't see why we can't use some of that loot to attract a decent head coach. I'm afraid we'll have to wait for another Jon Gruden type hire to come along, some assistant willing to work for peanuts until a better opportunity comes along.

Honestly, I think one of our only options may be to elevate Rob Ryan, let Millard handle the defense and bring in an OC from the college ranks or something.
