Kind of a gritty vet QB.... a winner.

Is he a shrimpy turd of a quarterback, or top 3rd QB?

Of course, he'd be an upgrade over what we had under center last yr.
A little bit of a 'loose cannon', but he also does make some plays.
He's won a lot of games .... and is 5-2 in the playoffs.

I'm leaning toward drafting Russell, but we could do much worse than having Delhomme as our QB, IMO.

I'd take him.

Who is Carolina gonna roll with though? Weinke?

Oh right. They are gonna smarten up and draft their QB of the future, apparently.

Hmmm.

delhomme has dropped off sharply this last year... and it was just ugly. i want no part of him

His throwing hand(thumb I think) was injured this past season... just FYI.

We dont need another stop gap. We already have Brooks.

Dude, Delhommer would have looked like Donald Hollas' retarded second cousin behind our bullshit offensive line compared to either Brooks or Walter.. and we know how badly they did.

You think Brooks and Walter are better QB's than Jake .... ?
I don't.

Walter could potentially end up better, but right now, no.

As a Steve Smith owner two years running, I've watched a good amount of Carolina.

The one thing about him, I wonder if he has "it". Whatever that may be. I don't see any magic from this guy.

And really, he played badly this year.

oh no, the overly vague term to judge all qb's is back. The illustrious IT. I dont really think he's a big deal though. He can get the ball to the receivers, but doesnt ever maintain any sort of legit consistency in his performance. he had one good playoff run. as of late its been so so.

It wouldn't suck to have him on the roster though.

doesnt suck no. doesnt bother me if we have him. but of course he doesnt have "it". until cousin "it" comes along, the addams family that is the raiders are doomed. :p Seriously if he's cheaper than brooks, then cool, if not no thanks.

I watched pretty much all their games the last few years since they are the local team. I am not overly impressed by him.

Steve Smith and formerly Moose were good reasons why he got/gets good stats. He doesn't look off of his primary target well and he is really easily spooked in the 1st qaurter. If you get to him early he is dogshit the rest of the game.

It will be interesting to see how he does under a new OC with the same team, but he would suck behind the line we had last year. He might have been hamstrung by Dan Henning and his playcalling.

Keep in mind that for the most part he has had a good to great primary receiver, an above average line (except this year) and a good running game to back him up. This year the line got hurt early, the running game was inconsistent and the play calling was very conservative. So it mght be a fluke year for him, I am just not sure.

Over all I think he is better than what we have had the last 2 years but I am not sold on him being a franchise QB.

I would take him over Brooks but shit that aint saying much.

Who's better, Delhomme or Plummer?

Delhomme. Plummit is gimmick system product, unless you're bootlegging on every down with a yearly 2000+ yard rushing system in effect, you dont get much with him. in fact i'd take brooks over Plummer in a more traditional system.

I never thought much of this guy. Always seemed he was doing it with mirrors. When it counted (SB) he was nowhere to be found. His best days of smoke and mirrors are behind him.

Draft a QB and let's get on with it.

I'll take Quinn this week.

Talkin Delhomme?

I think Delhomme lacks the mobility of Brooks and the arm/potential of Walter. The point I was trying to make was that in the offense he would have been forced to play in last year (which is the only real fair way to compare any QB to our current crop, if we're to hammer our QB's for their part in things) ... then Delhomme would have had the worst of both worlds. No escapability and no arm. So, yes. In the system in question.. definately worse.

This coming year? I wouldn't slit my wrists if we somehow signed Delhomme (does anyone really see this happening?) .. but I can't see him doing any better than what we've already got. If we magically get a functional offensive line, a consistent running game and receivers who want to play.. then I think our current QBs will look like real NFL QBs. If we have a bullshit offensive line again, with an undependable running game and receivers who drop more passes than they catch.. then no QB we sign or draft will look any better than what we've got now.

At #1, we're kind of forced to draft the BPA regardless of the state of our team.. but the hard part is figuring out who that might be. Hopefully, some team out there will get a major hard on for some player at #1 and trade with us so we can get down into the 4-8 range and pick up a nice player (I think there's a good chance that AP will slip a little bit, looking at the teams who are drafting 2-8). But, even outside of AP, there's 4-5 guys that would immediateyl help this team.

Anyway, we digress.
