The difference being Linderbaum is actually a stud. Those contracts from the 2000s were guys who were average at best and being paid top dollar.
So important Seattle had a 2nd year UDFA handling the duties last year.
You might be right, but I do think the Linderbaum signing was as much about him as it is about Doza. In short, the franchise approached it as a "must" have.
Linderbaum is a huge piece not only for this year’s number one overall pick, but also for last year’s pick in Jeanty. Without upgrading the OL in a big way, neither the QB or RB would have a chance to be successful. And no way you could expect to make the level of OL improvement necessary in the near term just thru adding rookies via the draft. Yes, it was an overspend, but that’s what you often have to do to attract a top player especially when the team doesn’t have any type of recent track record of winning or competing for championships. Money available and well spent imo.
I agree but I feel like at least he went after good players that were young instead of whatever the fuck we have been doing the last few years. No rocket science moves but also not our normal stupid shit.
Point is, he closed some big deals for young starters other teams wanted. That’s good work.
