Welcome to the team - WR Don'te Thorton

Good thing he's tall because he can't jump.
How can a dude be fast and not be able to jump?

The guy is 6'4 1/2", has 32 1/8" arm length, and a vert of 30 -- makes for a jump equivalent reach of 11 feet 6 1/2 inches -- a foot and a half above the crossbar on a goal post.

And his 10'6" broad jump suggests an explosiveness that did not translate to the vertical.

Gonna eat

I think the MVS comparison is the most accurate. If he can just give you that deep threat to keep defenses honest for Jeanty/Bowers/Meyers/Bech to eat and maybe give you 40 receptions for 600 yards a season then he's doing his job and it'll be worth the pick. Can't say I see him as ever being like a 80+ catch guy but I'd love if he could develop into that too.

Raiders have a lot of mouths to feed on the offense so if he gets 40-45 receptions his first year, I agree, it's a win. Teams will not be able to stack the box against AJ with all the dangerous receivers Vegas has and Geno isn't afraid to heave it. It's going to be a fun offense to watch.

I’d imagine Bowers numbers will go down seeing how he won’t be the only target outside of Myers.

Why?

More offense —> more opportunities —> more completions.
Just a general sense the offense will be more balanced with Chip and adding two WR’s and Mayer hopefully being full go this year. Although I do feel you could run an offense through Bowers it’s probably not the direction we will go under Chip. I assume a more balanced offense with a much improved run game.

but they should also run more plays as a result, so it may not be too much of a drop.

I don’t know if there is room for too many more passing plays in our offense. If we have to pass as much as we did last year 635 attempts we are doing something shitty with our run game. That’s good for top 5 in most years for teams. With how Pete likes to run the ball I would hope that number goes down significantly.

Then again success rate of the actual passes should jump up quite a bit.

Yeah, they were 4th in attempts (and completions), but only 13th in yards so just by being more efficient it could mitigate a drop off.
