Welcome to the team - Quay Walker

I actually think eich might be the backup guy. He started getting more run at the end of the year.

Crosby/paye - koonce
Dean/walker - eich.

At least this year. Premium picks are going to supplement the trenches and grab doza. Maybe a wr pick if one we love is there.

Maybe the Bergs just need a scheme change to play well. It could happen.

Tough to know what rob thinks of players. We know he must not have loved either roberts or white. If we have 3-4 more options by tc - then the bergs are cooked. But 1-2? They may get some run.

Could the Raiders have one of the best LB duos in the NFL? 👀

Career PFSN LB Impact grades:

😤 Quay Walker - 82.8
😤 Nakobe Dean - 76.5

Impact grade.. seems like another one to add to @sleets list
Don’t know what that is, but I like it!

Both Bergs played MIKE in 4-2-5 base defenses in college. Eichenberg got some playing time last year. They likely compete with a rookie for the back-up strong side ILB role.

As a 3-4 weak side LB possibility, Spy picked up former ‘21 1st rounder (19th pick) by Wash, who started 8 games at MIKE in JDR’s 4-3 scheme as a rookie. He played primarily WILL his 2nd and 3rd years, where he played his best football (3.1% SIS & 4.2% SIS). He lost his starting job in Dan Quinn’s D in 2024. They tried him at OLB, but he did not take to that position. He’s bounced around practice squads since then until starting 1 game and playing in 2 for Pete/Graham last year.

SpyGuy gave Walker (‘22 1.22) slightly less than Pitts gave Patrick Queen (‘20 1.28) in ‘24. Two years ago Queen got 3Y-$13.7M per. Walker just got 3Y-$13.5M per.

Queen had a better first 4 years in Balt. But has been a bust in Pitts. Last year: 1059 snaps, -0.3% SIS, 44.0 PFF. I like Walker’s chances of out performing Queen.

Walker got slightly more than J. Owusu-Koramoah (‘21 2.54) did in ‘24. He played well his first four years, signed a 3Y extension with Cle for $12.5M, but then did not play last year. Be interesting who plays better in ‘26.

Iirc, JOK suffered a significant neck injury and his ability to play this year or anytime in the future is in serious question. So likely we don’t see any comparison in play this coming season…

Quay Walker is an elite tackler… but there’s a catch

• 4.5% missed tackle rate (3rd lowest among LBs, per NGS)
• Allowed the 5th most yards in coverage by LBs (per PFF)

@HellerSports explains why that could be, and why he could improve with the #Raiders

I'm looking forward to seeing how this all comes together but I might shed a solitary tear if this defense actually starts tackling like professionals.

Wasn't aware that Eich was a ST terror. Read a recent article about him. Seems like KK and staff are looking for guys that are ST standouts that can also play spot roles on the defense. I'd be surprised if Eich doesn't make the roster.

He’s an absolute dawg… having Maxx Dean and Walker will definitely generate some consistent pressure on the QB. And just as important, consistent tackling ability. We’ve lacked this for so long. They know when and where to shoot gaps, and when not to. Discipline is the word here. It’s usually contagious to the rest of the squad…so here’s hoping.

They just need to stay healthy enough all season. Dean is worrisome in this regard

Hard to find LB’s at any position that are great tacklers, blitzers, and in coverage. There’s almost always going to be a catch

Conversely, Dean is solid in coverage, but not a thumper type in between tackles from what I understand.

Seems like those two compliment each other well with their particular strengths, and think that’s the idea here. We finally prioritized LB and dedicated real salary to it for once, let’s hope it pays dividends

"The light finally came on for him last year. I thought he diagnosed the run game better than in the past. He has always been fast, long and can hit."

This, Dean’s health, and coverage over the middle would really elevate the D.
