Welcome to the team - OL Charles Grant

Let him compete at LG initially and practice as Miller’s backup. Not really expecting him to start as a rookie, especially at LT. He’s a bit of a project and needs to bulk up a bit. Likely gonna see him as a backup guard/LT year one and that’s okay.

Yea, I think this will most likely be a redshirt year for Grant. Most likely compete with Munford for the swing T spot, but probably end up as the #4 OT this season (barring injuries).

Uphill climb at guard for these kids to start with PFF All pro and BR.net favorite Dylan Parham in front and veteran Alex Cappa in the mix

Meredith a PFF darling also.

Parham and Meredith are good run blockers and capable of working well in a Zone Bullshit scheme. They're okay in pass rush except when facing guys with a powerful bull rush -- and against that the collapse like wet cardboard.

If Rogers picks up the scheme and does obviously better against Wilkins, he starts.

Just so I’m understanding correctly… are you saying that if he does well enough to win the job that he’ll start?

Based on Carroll's insistence on competition, yes.

If he shows that he can execute run blocking as well as the other two and holds up better against Wilkins, yes.

Gabe Jackson was a third round pick.

JPJ solves a lot of problems. Neither Meredith nor Parham will be playing next to a similarly small OC (e.g., James) but an OC who can bully DT and square up even the best of them. Help is right next door.

That is an improvement. But every DC knows that, too.

Good point. But I would rather get to a place where our OC knows there is help right next door because the Raiders have two bulldozers at OG and are capable of dominating a DL when it matters.

Raiders are not there yet, but it would be a good goal to strive for....to have the most dominant interior OL in the entire league.

As for Parham and Meredith....I hope at least one of them is defeated in camp and is a backup.

Given that Cappa’s 2025 salary is more than what Parham and Meredith are making combined, probably a pretty good chance that one will be a backup…

Hope it is best man wins and Capa receives a nice pre-retirement package. If Parham does not win a starting job, perhaps we will find a suitor for him.

Parham and Meredith both suck.
They can probably upgrade off the discard pile.

You'd think. But they were to the two top Gs on the team last year and all the team did was sign Cappa and draft Rogers in the 3rd. The refuse pile is Cody fucking Whitehair bad.

At the very least I like the amount of deed competition at guard this year between Cappa/Meredith/Parham/Rogers/Grant. Let them duke it out for the two starting spots.

Cappa wasn't always terrible what happened with him?
