Welcome to the team - Nakobe Dean

So easily my 2nd favorite signing with lindy 1. Leader, playmaker, strong blitzer, good athlete. Not quite in the Fred warner/Bobby Wagner category, but only a tier, maybe tier and a half with injury concerns, below.

Getting his more "ideal sized" running mate from Georgia to pair with him is smart. That they know each other well, will only speed their adaptation. Let Walker take on blockers while Dean cleans up plays.

231# seems generous… maybe with his pads on and soaking wet after a torrential downpour. Probably playing weight closer to 220. And I think that might be a contributing factor in his injury issues; many of his collisions are with guys who are just bigger than he is. Yes, he can be a heat seeking missile, but he’s been taking on some damage hitting brick walls.
 
I like this signing a lot but he has been made out of porcelain so far in the NFL.

The one season he started out of 4 he was a Pro Bowler or damn close though haha.

Aint no way he's worse than Devin White or Elandon Roberts. We good.

Like a bigger version of Bob Sanders. When he's on the field, you love him. You just can't let yourself get too attached to having him out there.

We're finally making an effort at LB. I'm grateful for that whether it works or not.

I’d rather have Dean play 9 games than have to watch either DWhite or Roberts on the field.

Pratt was Indy’s best LB last year. Stupid to let in walk in favor of those other three.
 
Spytek should have told Pete to fuck off. Keeping Pratt would have likely netted us getting that other 5th comp pick with Roberts junked.

So annoyed he deferred to that dementia riddled jackass.

Nakobe Dean has generated the NFL's highest sack since the start of 2024 (min. 80 pass rushes).

His 14.8% sack rate in 2025 also led the league (min. 25 pass rushes), and his 40.7% QBP rate was 2nd highest.

That sounds like some really good playcalling as much as anything about the player.

I think this tells us we are gonna bring it. We are not gonna be playing some soft defense that gives the offense time to find holes in the zones. We are gonna come at as many angles as we can realistically hit you from.

That’s my hope at least

Me likey. With Maxx, the D has a bona fide chance to get home with 4. If Rob can kept O guessing when he’s blitzing and not blitzing, as well as mix in zone blitzes overloading one side of the OL, that will only enhance pressures. Now we just have to find 6 guys on the back-end who can cover, so we can unleash the hounds on the front end. Lol

We probably should just hope Dean stays healthy first. I don’t think we fixed the pass rush by adding in Quitty and 2 LB’s. We just opened one door that wasn’t quite available before he got here. We still need some DT and backend help as you said

Or they could send us their play caller.

That type of success rate on minimal pass rushes (27) seems more about timing and how you set the play up than flat out pass rush prowess. Otherwise, they would have sent him more often. Not saying he's not good at it, just that I think Philly was pretty smart with their usage of him.
