Welcome to the team - Keyron Crawford

Not really… If we can find another Vince Wilfork then maybe I will get behind the fatty NT. Maybe a Vita Vea. Aside from that I don’t want to hear NT again in this forum. We passed on NT at every turn.
Until we drafted mini-NT in the 7th. :sneak:

Even if it’s not as strong having a guy like chinn on the field as your nickel means you aren't deficient against the run. With TEs being bigger receiving threats now than before you are also looking for guys that can deal with them. Some teams use tall cbs. Some safeties. Some lbs. Some mix and match. Some rbs require the same attention. It’s why guys like chinn, or if he had worked out, Simmons are so valuable. Being able to adjust your coverage and disguise it without changing a personell grouping is invaluable. Alignment (4-3 vs 3-4) is less of a factor than in years past because we see less of what used to be base personell for offenses.
Perfect example is the kid in Seattle. Every team wants that type of player. It just hasn’t really worked for 95% of those big tall fast LB/S combo players.

I think you understand the point. I was all about a NT type guy in the later rounds. Someone has to come in and help with the Tush Push stuff

I’m gonna be said if Tasi’s not Rob’s secret weapon. And Tokyo Toe takes his roster spot.

At least we finally have our LEO.

I’d imagine the dream is to be as strong against the run in dime as you are in a 4-3 or 3-4.

Starts with being able to get it done with your linemen. A DE who is strong enough at the point of attack that the DT can angle away AND generate pass rush on his own is worth his weight in gold.

This is why I rank Bruce Smith higher than most. Crazy how much damage he did from a 3 point stance in a 3-4 alignment.

Maxx and Paye are both good against the run.

These are the DTs we have on the roster. Are we putting 3 of them in the interior DL in a 3-4 look?

Coach and scheme them up!

The good news, we’ll be in nickel most of the time.

I would think Martin and JJ are the Nose?

It's going to be a bunch of rotations and moving around but if you want to nail down a base lineup for the sake of conversation it's probably going to be Maxx, Butler, Paye, and probably Butler/Laulu. People can call Paye a LB if it makes them feel better.

Butler's going to be a busy man, it seems.

We've got a few unspectacular DLs that I don't mind having on the field. No one exceptional, but serviceable. I think we can get by with this group for a year. Kinda wanna upgrade next year, though.
DT and WR next year yep.
