Welcome to the team - Jermod McCoy

I just scrolled through five pages trying to find hand wringing and panty bunching.

Couldnt see a thing. Seems like 99.9 percent of Raider fans in the world are pretty excited to have him.
I may have exaggerated a bit but there were a couple of "damaged goods" comments about McCoy before he even set foot on the field. I thinks he's definitely worth the pick.

It took me a minute but I've come around to it. The idea of the Raiders being the smartest guys in the room isn't a comfortable fit quite yet.
On a more serious but DB related note, I wonder how much Stukes’ age played a role in the disconnect between draft nicks and at least some GM. Raiders had a need, not only for a plug-n-play coverage safety who can play deep when and as needed, but also a versatile one that would help enable Leonard to field the newly touted position-less D.

I'm probably not your best source considering how little I follow the draft process anymore but the consensus board I looked at had him at 48, so 38 doesn't seem too eyebrow raising. I think safety is generally considered a devalued position outside the elite prospects too. It also seems like he got a late boost from his testing. He just strikes me as a guy that went around where he was expected to go and perhaps valued just a tad more by us due to dire need.

#Raiders DB coach/pass game coordinator Joe Woods on Jermod McCoy: "He's rehabbing the injury, but he's been out on the field [and] you can see the skill set. He has the size, he's explosive [and] you see the man coverage ability."

More from Woods on McCoy: "For me, the hardest thing is I really want to do more fundamental drills with him, just to develop him the way I see. But that whole process, he's fine. It's like he didn't miss any time."

Woods: "I think the main thing for him is just getting back to being 100%. He'll get there, and he's got to be patient. We have to be patient, but he's improving every day."

Should we be at all concerned he's 1.5 years removed from surgery and still rehabbing?

I have a feeling that it's more getting him back to game speed than getting his range of motion. Getting him mentally back is part of it too. Make sure he's confident in using that knee and not shying away from cuts and whatnot.

He blow out his knee yet?
At least the Raiders are moving up in drafting injured players. We didn’t draft a guy with a foot injury. We moved up to knee.
With our luck, he’ll blow out his good knee next. :D

Anyone remember Conley’s perpetual shin injury?

Didn’t Obi Melifonwu break his hip?

Can we move on to the injuries that don’t matter like collarbone or exploding hearts?

Raiders had a proclivity for drafting injured guys on a regular basis. I'm referring to 1st and 2nd rounders. Even up until recently. Conley had sticks for legs. Obi was a combine warrior who went right from the draft to the stationary bike while everyone else was on the field. Pissed me off to no end.
