Just laughing at the double standard. WR drops for QBs are like bad blocking for a RB. You can't discount one and cite the other. They are both uncontrollable aspects. Mendoza looks much better if Benson catches those two third down drops and Nailor doesn't butterball a catchable pass.

That's not favorable to the idea of it being a good pass. I do miss a good still frame debate though. It's been too long.

Nothing wrong with him sitting. Nothing wrong with him not being ready either. He’s not looked good as a whole and in some ways I’d prefer it that way. It ensures us that we don’t overload him and put him out there before he’s ready.
 
Just looks like the game is a little too fast for him right know. More talented players everywhere compared to college. And I know I keep harping on this but it’s true… the back shoulder throw was his bread and butter in college and while there is a time and place for that throw it just won’t work consistently against better players and better defensive game planning and film work at the NFL level. Yeah he’s just not ready YET but to me he looks like he’ll be fine with more coaching and a chance to observe for awhile.

They could have put him in situations and called plays to get him easy completions, but they didn't do it.
They did prevent him from crashing out on a two-minute drill before the half though.

It's all good, I think he is right where a lot of fans expected.

If the Raiders were still saddled with last year's coaching staff or any of the iterations over the past decade, I would probably lean toward Doza being toast. Done.

What keeps me optimistic is that this Raiders' offensive staff is NOT the same as the ones in the past. That this staff at least appears prepared for the challenges of developing a raw prospect at the most difficult position in professional football.

Secondly, from everything I have seen and read, Doza is VERY serious about becoming the BEST version of himself possible. He is a focused young man with a work ethic off the charts.

Those two factors go a long way to producing faith in me that otherwise would be absent.
 
The two INTs are what are going to get the attention and were clearly his two worst plays but I do like what I saw from Fernando in preseason. Four drops from his receivers didn’t help, two from Benson and two from Thomas… three of them likely go for first downs. A big question of his pre-draft was if he could go through progressions in an NFL offense, thought he did that well in his snaps. Still lots to learn for the kid but I feel good about what he showed.
