Welcome to the team Alexander Mattison

He looks like a pitbull in his hilites. Sad to see JJ go.
Was unexpected. Wonder when word will leak of what the Raiders offered and he turned down.

forget the goal line

ANY Mattison run with less than 5 yards to go for a 1st down...

out of 56 RBs with at least 15 att (Mattison had 31 att):

#56 of 56 in EPA/att (-0.30)
#54 of 56 in 1st down rate (42%)
#52 of 56 in success rate (48%)

Was this a thing prior to last year?

Was this a thing when Cousins was QB?

Mattison had 5 rushing TDs on only 74 carries in ‘22. That year Cook had 8 rushing TDs on 264 carries. Seems to me there is an explanation other than Mattison is not a good short-yardage runner.

It’s an ugly stat for sure.

Some of those aren't his fault technically but it shows why he was a low priority for Minnesota too. You'd like to see him break some of those 1v1 tackles from LBers.
He's a decent back up/#2 RB and was paid like it. He'll compete for the job but I think Zeus will lock it up.

Come to think of it he was a FFL disappointment 🤔

He was, people drafted him high thinking he'd get the workload and be the man off of a small sample of success...

I don't dislike him, if anything it just proves why RBs shouldn't get big money. For the most part, he gets the yards the OL creates for him. That's good enough for government Raider work.
He's whatever, a necessary role. I'm excited to see what Zeus does and also to see what the rookie Laube can do. Plenty of weaponz...

That would be the best thing, but we need two capable backs to share the workload.

If you compare them, they are very much alike. There is theme there with their physicality and running style, same size also.

Aside from a couple of years with Marcus Allen and I guess JJ, have the Raiders ever really gone with a clear alpha RB? Seems like it's always been a committee of some degree or another. Al was ahead of the curve on that one.

Lamont Jordan :chuckle:
Yeah seemed like we usually had some form of thunder and lightning.

Old Roger Craig and Nick "just like Okoye" Bell. Devastating duo

Getting Tom Rathman to the edge with them outside screens.

Eric Dickersons too since you miserable fans started it.
