If you look at the profile of the defense, Pete built it to stop the run first and foremost. Roberts is excellent against the run and has the green dot. Adams is excellent against the run. Chinn is good run support at the third level. Probably the biggest weakness against the run is our corners ironically. I have no idea why people think this sorry ass Patriot line is going to push us around. Graham also uses a lot of Brian Flores' pressure packages, which is what gave Maye issues that week practicing against the Vikings and during his appearance in their preseason game. If everything goes well, Graham's pressure packages marry up well with Pete's superior DB coaching and produces a cohesive unit that spins Drake Maye's top. But they're not going to run on us. I think that was Pete's goal when putting the defense together, to improve that. It was something I pointed to that they needed to get better at last year going into the year, and they basically ended up right smack dab in the middle at giving up 116 rushing yards again versus 118 in 2023. We should be better than that this year if Pete gets his way.
 
So what's with the Jacobi dude? Is he playing? Holding out? Leaving the team? What?

Fuck him.

Said he's ready to roll. He asked for more money. Asked for a trade. Team said no, so that's that. Not whining like a bitch and is going to go try to get paid on the field.

Jakobi Meyers recently requested a trade after his representation and the Raiders couldn’t come to agreement on an extension. He will start the season playing for the Raiders.
“I asked; they said no,” Meyers said Wednesday, via video from Vince Sapienza of Fox5 Vegas. “That’s where that stopped. I’m just going to keep doing my job until something shakes out either way. I don’t know which way it’s going to go, but I’ll be ready for whatever.”
Meyers will make $10.755 million this season in the final year of the three-year pact he signed with the Raiders in 2023. That ranks him 29th among players at his position for this season.
Yet, Meyers had 87 catches for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns for the Raiders last season.
He does not know whether he will get an extension with the team or not.
“I really don’t know where it’s going to go, but I’m ready,” Meyers said. “I’m ready to go if you want me to go. I’m ready to play if they want me to play.”
Meyers spent four seasons in New England before joining the Raiders. He was asked if he was “happy” in Las Vegas, and his answer was telling.
“Am I happy?” Meyers asked rhetorically. “It’s a job. I’m happy to be doing my job with my boys, but I could be happy anywhere.”
Meyers isn’t likely to be “happy” unless he has an extension, whether that’s with the Raiders or with another team. He said everyone will “find out together” what his future holds.

I think his 3 year deal he signed will basically guarantee him $33mm. I get that he's outplayed the contract but I think most of us here could make those $$ work.

He's underpaid for sure. They should bump him to $18 mil on the low end, but he's a former undrafted guy and said the Patriots threw him away when he came to Vegas. So you're not going to see a guy like that take anything for granted.
 
I get both sides. This is realistically his last big contract in this league, but at the same time, the Raiders have him for one more year and can revisit it based on the production they see in this offense and based on injuries. If he tore his Achilles week two and we just re-signed him, the same people talking about pay him would be the biggest critics. Imo, they'll come to an agreement at some point, just not now, just like they did with Miller.
