"Lookie lookie lookie, here comes Bookie." Mangled sports movie quote folks. Guess it and win exactly zero vBucks.

After walking all over San Francisco, the 22nd ranked Chiefs (up from 24th) fly to the desert to face the 26th ranked (down from 22nd) Arizona Cardinals.

A slightly below average Chief offense will go up against a below average Cardinal defense. This should help them to continue to establish a rhythm on offense with Trent Green still sidelined.

The Cardinals will look to spark their sputtering offense with rookie Matt Leinart under center, but that doesn't seem likely with the dominating Chiefs defense staring them down from across the line of scrimmage.

If you think home field advantage is worth 3 points, then KC should win by a touchdown. The over/under might just hinge on whether Arizona has more success on offense than San Francisco did.

OK How does the betting work I just put how much I wanna bet in the box for the team I wanna bet for

Yeah and then hit the "Bet Now" button.

Remember you are either laying the points or taking the points! ;)

Chiefs are -3.5 ( 3 1/2 point favorite)

That means when you have the final socre say 24-13 Chiefs you subtract 3.5 points from the Chief's score. If they still win (in this case 20.5-13) YOU WIN.

If you are the underdog +3.5, as an example, you add three and a half points to that team's score and see if you're ahead! if so YOU WIN AGAIN.

Clear?

If you bet the -3.5 you are "laying" the 3.5 on the table.

If you bet the +3.5 you are taking the points.

Ain't that easy?

Clear as mud.

Don't trust a bookie Angel. :D

It's all like mud to me :(....so if I think the Chiefs will win...say by at least 20 points....what would my bet be>? Meaning, where would I place my bet?

Chiefs. Chiefs by 20 - 3.5 = 16.5 point lead, you win!

If the Chiefs win by a field goal 3 - 3.5 equals a loss by .5 points. oops, you lose.

If you think the Chiefs will win by 20...bet the whole enchilada baby! :D

Angel stay with me on this.

The point spread gives points to the underdog and takes points away from the favorite. This is expressed with a + points for the underdog and a - points for the favorite.

Once again...

Chiefs are favorites by 3 1/2 points. That means they must beat Arizona by more than 3 1/2 (like 4 or more points).

The Cards are 3 1/2 point underdogs thus you get to add 3 1/2 points to their final score.

So if the final score is Chiefs 20 Cards 17 and say you bet on Arizona plus the points you would have the 17 the Cards scored PLUS the 3 1/2 you get from the bookie which now equals 20 1/2. The Chiefs only scored 20 so you WIN!!!! Yahoooooooooo. Angel is rich...wanna get married.

what happens if you bet on over or under
You add the two scores together.

Then you compare it to the betting line (under/over) -- if the total is over the total points scored by both teams and you bet on the "over" you win. Same with with the "undder"...if the tota pointsl scored is under the total and you bet the "under" you win.

Looks like the bookie is taking all the ties although that isn't how it works in real betting.

Well, yes, I am. How do I pay out a tie? It can't be done. This system doesn't allow pushes, does it? It's either win or loss unfortunately. I guess from now on I won't book potential ties. I'll make everything a definite win or loss.

You're right. That's why at the game I told you that I had a tie. The Bookie didn't see it that way and took my fuckin' money. D'oh.

The half point thing will handle that if that's the way you want to do it. Doesn't really matter. No big deal.
