They actually *started* tanking last January when they hired this Jeff Hafley as coach. Jeff fucking who!?! Basically an unwitting dupe that will see them through the tank years and then they’ll hire a real coach lol.

Weren't we trying to interview him for a second time when he took that job? I think this guy is kind of respected in coaching circles. I know he's pinching himself. He was at a dead end job at Boston College and is now an NFL HC a couple of seasons after bailing on them to be LaFleur's DC.

He cited it as the reason he left, but I do think he's one of those guys that everyone thinks is going to succeed because they think so highly of him. I think he's a hell of a X's and O's defensive coach.

So…Hafley is interesting in that he really didn’t have the ‘bones’, IMO, to be named HC of BC.

Bones? He *never* was a Coordinator by himself at any level before BC hired him (just a ‘Co’ Coordinator at OSU in ‘19). He was a position coach for years. Now BC isn’t the ‘end all be all’, but it’s still a Power 4 school in the ACC. So he has a losing overall record there (and REALLY bad in conference play - 12-22) and so he gets the ziggy.

He gets to Green Bay and is the Packers DC for the last 2 years. LY his D is 11th in scoring and 12 in overall D. Make of that what you will. Should his results at BC and Green Bay have gotten him a pretty plum gig like the Dolphins? Jury’s waaaay out on that one.

His so called main attribute is he gets along with players, blah, blah, blah. But to me…you gotta produce, I don’t give a damn if the players like you or not…show me your results. And, IMO, those are lacking in regards to getting a head coaching job in the NFL. Really…it’s some shit the Raiders would have done (and have done). Like, ‘look at us we’re smarter than everyone else…we hired Jeff Hafley’. Thank God we got KK.

BC is a terrible college job, and it was compounded by NIL coming into play right after he took the job. Getting this job this young is what I'm talking about though, I think he's one of those guys that impresses other coaches and personnel people. Every team that interviewed him called him back for a second interview including us. I think they're going to be terrible this year, but I won't be surprised if they have it turned around in a couple of years like Flores had them going before he pissed everybody off in the building. He seems to be Flores without the personality disorder. Also, th eGB time needs context too. That front office had dude playing with bottom five CBs in the league, and I know from his college time that he likes to play press man covereage. So he had to adapt to the hand he was dealt and produced a top five defense year one and had a top five one until Parsons got hurt last year.
