On paper, we're a better team this year than last. Coaching upgrade across the board, o-line intact and upgraded (Lindy/healthy Miller/JPJ more focused), RB room deeper, Cousins > Geno. Our defense appears to be better with a healthy and motivated Crosby, Tonka taking a step forward, improved LB core with Walker and Dean, addition of Paye off the edge and a much deeper secondary - albeit younger.

We should beat Miami in route to a 6-7 win season.

This is why I'm trying to be objective about it. When you went back after that game, the Panthers had better players in a lot of positions. That they have such a young roster and that we're at home are the only reasons I think we can pull this out. However, their offensive line might blow our front off the ball though, and that might be the difference. If this wasn't week one and a new coaching staff, I'd take them all day.

They say opening day is the closest all the teams are until the rust falls off and bad roster depth kicks in. Also, staffs have been game planning for the opening opponent for six months. Jerod Mayo won his first game against the Bengals for context.
 
If our run blocking is as good as it was preseason - we can lean on the run game and hope to stop a very stoppable Miami offense.

Worst nightmare is not being able to contain achane and hiccups from our offense.

Maxx, Paye, Walker and Dean should come in handy against Achane. Not the biggest back to be going up the middle. Guess draws might be problematic though.

Washington averaged 7.3 yards per carry in preseason. I assume Mia won’t be giving that up. Hopefully over 4 yards per carry is on tap though.
 
Just the fact that they are suiting up Malik ‘105 total completions in the NFL’ Willis…and we have Kirk Cousins, should be enough on paper to tip the scales to us. Now admittedly Cousins is waaay past his prime…but if it was the reverse and they had Cousins and we had Willis…I’d be *more* worried.
