Vehicle enthusiasts

Wife wants an M4 which I'll probably spring for in the next year or two. Had to get my daughter a car after she wrecked her first one which put back the new car for dad budget a couple of years. I don't mind much though although not having a truck is a pain in the ass (sold mine last year). Old cars float my boat more than new ones except for practical purposes.

Kia is really filling that quality for your dollar slot that Honda, Toyota, and Nissan have left behind though.

S. Korea churns out sometime really good product man. Whether it’s electronics or vehicles. Had such a blast living there. Good people. That Stinger is pretty cool. It has like an 80’s sports car on the old animated Transformers cartoon design. I didn’t drive it but I checked it out when I test drove the Telluride.

If KIA throws a twin turbo V-6 in the Telluride I would seriously consider trading in because the quality of that vehicles interior is phenomenal in the SX version. There is no better mix of price/looks/quality in any SUV on the market IMO.

Honda Accord 160,000 miles with only regular maintenance done. Twins turn 16 next year so I'm probably going to let them drive it. I'm looking at something bigger to tow a camper. I put 24,000 per year on a vehicle so I don't buy anything fancy. If I can get 10,000 miles per $1,000 I'm happy. The motorcycle really helps take some of the miles off of the cars. If I can shift 5,000 miles per year onto the bike that is a financial and mental health win.

@gst8 will roast me (I think it was you who gave me shit for buying a Ford before), but I bought a 2020 Explorer ST in June. Love it. Rides like a dream, looks great, 0-6 in 5.1 in a 3rd row SUV is not too shabby....BUT!

I had to have the transmission fully replaced at about 2k miles lmao. My loaner was the same car so no biggie, but that’s crazy right?
Pimp! my buddy had an Edge and was great except the tranny kept going out, to the point the had to basically give him his money back. He got the Explorer instead and it’s been all good for him. Hopefully just a glitch for ya, it looks bad ass.

I want to get my wife a new car and she’d love that. I want to test drive one of their SUV’s (sometimes we trade cars because she needs the storage and I just don’t like sitting low any more), I test drove a BMW X3 and loved it. But I think she prefers the Mercedes, or even Acura style. Did you look at their SUV line up as well or was it car all the way?
I have driven all their SUVs. From a lineup perspective pretty comparable with BMW but I would say less sporty and more comfortable. I have found MB to be longer lasting vehicle, I had an x3 and it was toast at 100k. My first E class my daughter drives and it’s still a great car at 200k miles.
The MB GlC and GLE’s are nice and the coupe versions I think are slick looking.

Korea has come a long way in the car making biz.

I had an Edge Sport that I traded in actually! Never had a problem otherwise I’d have went with the Kia lol.

Yeah I’m digging it. Got my lame-o Raider Nation license plate and everything.

Yeah MB sounds like it would make more sense for us then.

So I have been looking at older 4Runners and Sequoias for my camper tower. I was looking in the 10-year-old range as I didn't want to buy something new just to tow a camper. I have a decent idea at this point what they cost and what is or is not a good deal. I was waiting until a great deal came along. Yesterday I spotted one older than I was thinking but the price was right and it was in good condition. Last night I bought a 1999 Toyota 4Runner with 200,000 1 owner miles for $1,500. No rust and great condition for its age. It is not what I was looking for but I have 2 kids turning 16 next July and I figure worst case scenario it's a perfect first car and it's a stick so they will have to learn to drive one. If it makes it thru winter I'll consider it a win.

I had a 2000 4Runner SR5 4WD. Loved that truck. Hold their value better than anything other than a Jeep Wrangler.

I’ve been shopping for one for awhile and they do hold their value ridiculously well. Good and bad I suppose

Just now saw this topic. What bike are you on @Solve4X ? I’m on a 15 Road Glide Special that I don’t ride nearly as much as I ought to.

I rode when I was younger and have just recently (6ish years) started again. I started off with a Honda XR650 for a couple of years and then switched to a 2016 Suzuki V-Strom 650. It may be the perfect bike for my commute which is about 25 miles of interstate and 25 in town. It's big enough for the interstate and light enough to not be an issue in town. Sometimes I want bigger and faster but I think I would regret it for the riding that I actually do. I get 500 miles per week during the spring, summer, and fall. I have some friends that ride year-round and good for them but I am not that guy. I love Harleys and do understand the appeal but cannot justify the expense...yet.

I am completely biased towards Harley-Davidson motorcycles. I was working at a Harley shop when I learned to ride and that Harley shop is still my favorite job I’ve ever had. I’m still close friends with all of the guys that I worked with there. My first bike was a Harley, as was my second, as is my third. I’ve looked at other bikes but they just don’t hit me the same. The only other bike that I’ve looked at and thought “now that’s cool” was the little Triumph bobber a few years back.

Having said that, that bias only applies to me. If somebody is up on two wheels and having fun, I’m not hating on them, their bike, or the good times they’re having. If you like Hondas, ride a Honda. Indian, Kawasaki, whatever. Just have some damned fun!

I do miss my first bike though. I always figured my first bike would be some beat up Shadow that someone traded in. Turned out some old guy rolled in on a 98 Fat Boy and said “I’m done riding” and traded it in for next to nothing. The dealership I was at let employees buy used bikes for what they had into it, plus $500. It was single owner, low miles, immaculate paint, chromed out.... and what I really miss the most? Evo engine with Python straight pipes. I don’t think I’ll ever have a motorcycle that sounds that damned good again. And I’m not typically the “needs obnoxiously loud pipes” guy.... but, man...

OK (takes deep breathe). I've got a 2011 Ram 1500 as my daily, an 88 Camaro with a 383, 4 speed, 9 inch rear end with 4.11 gears that ran a best 11.27 @ 115 mph (the car weighs 3200 lbs with me in it) and I am currently in the process of shoehorning a small block chevy into a 74 pinto. My wife drives a 2017 Maxima Platinum that has all the bells and whistles (that auto-braking is the shit) and we just ordered one of those 2021 Broncos.

Those 80’s muscle cars are big right now. Grand National was the first car I financed. Loved that car but traded it in for a Honda when I got married lol. Those Broncos are cool looking too. Another one my wife has her eyes on.

I've got a rusted out Grand National sitting behind my garage. Friend of mine gave it to me. I thought about making it into a grudge match drag car but it's too far gone.
